As the premiere of The Punisher approaches, another acclaimed actor has been added to the cast. In just a few months, Marvel TV will release their third Netflix series of the year. After the team-up of The Defenders, each of the four main heroes and their supporting characters are heading off for new solo adventures next year. Sitting out the fun, however, was Frank Castle. Instead of once again battling the Hand, the Punisher will be getting his own story in November - one that will dive into his backstory and feature him on his continued mission of vengeance.

Thanks to the end credits of the finale for The Defenders, we got our first teaser for The Punisher. In the coming months, a full trailer will likely arrive, but the new look at the show has opened the marketing flood gates. The teaser was soon followed by a new image of Jon Bernthel in his full Punisher costume. We also discovered that one of the key villains of the series was teased in the recent trailer. Now, we have news of a new cast member and another potential thorn in Castle's side

EW is reporting that Shohreh Aghdashloo has joined the cast of The Punisher as Farah Madani. She will be the mother of Dinah (Amber Rose Reva), a Homeland Security agent after the Punisher. While Aghdashloo is currently starring in Syfy's The Expanse, she's perhaps best known for her Oscar-nominated role in House of Sand and Fog.

Given Aghdashloo's pedigree, it's unlikely she will merely be the mother of another character. With Dinah working for Homeland Security and tracking Castle, we could see Farah take a more antagonistic role in the proceedings. On top of the Oscar nomination, Aghdashloo also has an Emmy thanks to her work on House of Saddam. Interestingly, that series also saw her as the mother of a character played by Revah and the show was produced Steve Lightfoot, the showrunner for The Punisher.

Aghdashloo joins an already impressive cast, aside from Bernthal and Deborah Ann Woll, reprising her role as Karen Page from Daredevil and The Defenders. The announcement of Revah's casting last year also brought word of Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Girls) and Ben Barnes (Westworld) coming to the show, with the latter playing one of the show's villains. Set photos have also revealed Michael Nathanson will have a part on the show, and Paul Schulze (Nurse Jackie) as Rawlins is the villain spotted in the teaser. With the debut of The Punisher right around the corner, we should know a lot more about all of the supporting characters soon.
