It’s time for a Marvel News Round-Up! For the Marvel fans out there looking for more on their favorite upcoming superhero movies, we’ve gathered a few bits of information that have popped up in recent times on the web.
Today we’ll look at what may be a Thor cameo in Iron Man 2, Mark Millar talking about the Avengers movie and how it may play off what he wrote in his Ultimates comics for Marvel, Anthony Hopkins talks Thor and last but not least, Stan Lee is finally going in to shoot his cameo for Thor!
First and most importantly, we have a picture which may reveal a cameo from Thor in Iron Man 2. It’s very hard to tell and I don’t know if I believe it myself, but from the Iron Man 2 footage released online yesterday, there’s one quick shot when Tony Stark is walking through the prison where we see someone in the background getting their photo taken. Bad Taste believes this to be Chris Hemsworth who of course, is playing Thor.

If Thor does have a cameo in Iron Man 2, it will be more than just a photo in the background so unless this leads to something else that happens with Hemsworth in the film, I’m not sure I buy it.

Mark Millar responds to question about Marvel Comics’ Ultimates series and whether or not he was intentionally writing it as a possible pitch for the film adaptation of The Avengers.
“Well, they’ve already admitted they’re doing it that way. Joe Johnston has said publicly, the Captain America movie is going to be the first issue of Ultimates, plus the origin story, and then the Avengers movie will be material from Ultimates #2-#13, and maybe Ultimates Volume 2. I’m not speaking out of school, they’ve publicly said this. And I’m flattered by it.
I literally don’t see a cent, though, so it’s not in my interests to try and make it a pitch, and convince them to base the movie on my thing. People have asked if I’m pissed off, but I just see it as a compliment. When you do work for hire, you have to realize you won’t see money for that. If you’ve done a good job, and it reaches other mediums, then great.
I think what would make me unhappy is if I’d been like Jack Kirby or something, and only worked for Marvel, then saw them making billions and me only getting my pay 20 years before. That would be bleak. But that’s why, hopefully, current creators realize that in the end, your stuff will be used, and you will not be paid, so be smart and do some creator-owned stuff. Ennis, Ellis, we all do it as well as our Marvel stuff.”

Anthony Hopkins talks about his role in the upcoming Marvel Studios production of Thor and his interest in the dynamic of father-son relationships in reference to his character in the recently released Wolfman as well as playing Thor’s father.
“I’m very interested in that relationship between fathers and sons… My father’s relationship with me was cold. He was a hot-blood character but to me, cold. When I was young, he expressed his disappointment because I was bad in school and all of that. He didn’t mean any harm, but I felt I could never meet up to his expectations.”
Hopkins also talked about Thor director Kenneth Branagh and how he loved working with him. They have high hopes for the movie and Hopkins is very fond of the character he plays, Odin, ruler of Asgard and father of the title character and his nemesis, Loki. About the character of Odin, Hopkins said the following last week:
“He’s a stern man. He’s a man with purpose. I play the god who banishes his son from the kingdom of Asgard because he screwed up. He’s a hot-headed, temperamental young man — probably a chip off of the old block — but I decide he’s not really ready to rule the future kingdom, so I banish him. I’m harsh and my wife complains and I say, ‘That is why I’m king.’ He’s ruthless, take-it-or-leave-it. Women are much more forgiving; men are not so forgiving. I know in my life, my karma is, ‘If you don’t like it, tough, move on.’ And I move on. I’m a little like Odin myself.”

A few hours ago, the legendary Stan Lee tweeted that he’s finally going in to shoot his cameo in Thor. We knew for a long time this was coming and now we just have to speculate on who he could be playing.
“And wouldja believe I just got a call from the THOR set! They wanna shoot me on Thursday! (I hope they were referring to my cameo!)”
It’s a tradition to try and have Stan appear in as many Marvel-based films as possible. If things go according to plan and if the other Marvel characters that Stan Lee has mentioned before as getting their own movies, we may see him on the screen many more times.

I do love cameos!! Especially Stan Lee cameos! I hope there's a Thor one in IM2 as well.
Huh? Most have been, at best, distracting -even de-tracting- and at worst… just plain stupid. But I have to admit, the best one was in Iron Man. Mistaken for Hefner. Now that's funny. Jon Favreau genius. Maybe Stan Cams are fine if used the right way. Case dismissed.
I don't think his cameos take away from any of the films. They're usually very short anyway and it's just a nice little way for him to stay involved with all of it.

this scene even though on a french website was in french the guy talking to him clearly was speaking french and was not dubbed. isnt it shiel that get gets thor?
and 2 the guy had no muscle tone un less this was his human incarnation then most likely that was not thor. unless the scene was dubber then im wrong but i payed close attention it was not dubbed

Why do we have to have an ultimates movie? I mean, the original Avengers is good enough stuff. Mind you, i sort of like the Ultimate Avengers, and Lionsgate did an excellent job on the 2 ultimate avengers animated direct-to-DVD films (if anyone hasn't seen either i recommend you pick them up, good stuff), but it's like the studios and directors were somehow waiting for Marvel to do an Ultimates line before they would decide to do a film based on Marvel's characters. I already don't like the idea of Spiderman's upcoming reboot being based on Ultimate Spiderman.

As a Marvel fan from way back I'm looking forward to all the upcoming movies featuring Marvel icons. Particularly the Thor movie and I'm intrigued about a possible Thor cameo in IM2. I'm almost as keen about IM2 and the Captain America movie.
I've been a Thor fan since Marvel Thor was first created (and maybe even a little before that through norse mythology) and a long time Thor fan fic writer.

I agree. I'm sick of the “Ultimates” buzz word being bandied around. Give me MARVELS original “Earth's Mightiest Heroes – Avengers” line up any day.
I've got those animated DVDs. They're good but the film ought to truly pay homage to MARVELS original “Earth's Mightiest Heroes – Avengers” comic book series.
