Yesterday we reported that S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson from Iron Man would be returning for Iron Man 2 and making an appearance in Thor which began production last week. The character, along with Nick Fury, will no doubt be participating in each film to tie them all together, leading up to The Avengers where we’ll finally see our favorite Marvel heroes fight together as a team.

There’s been plenty of missed Marvel movie tidbits in recent days, overshadowed by news about Thor getting started and Spider-Man 4 getting ended, soon to get re-started again.

Today, we’ll take a look at a young unknown auditioning for Captain America, Scarlett Johansson’s favorite aspect of Black Widow in Iron Man 2, Thor’s Tom Hiddleston and his chicken cravings, and a little Fin Fang Foom action for Jon Favreau.

Johnny Pacar auditions for Captain America

Relative unknown young actor Johnny Pacar read for the role of Steve Rogers, the lead character in The First Avenger: Captain America as revealed by a recent tweet by him.

“Just read for Captain America. what a role to get. if only.”

If in indeed, Marvel Studios and director Joe Johnston had Pacar in to audition for the lead role, this tells us that rumors of a big A-List name such as Leonardo Dicaprio or Brad Pitt are not the direction Marvel is going for.

Like Thor’s Chris Hemsworth, Captain America may be played by a fresh young face in the business, with a long term multi-picture contract to ensure sequels, spin-offs and other gues appearances in the many films in development and the Disney-owned studio.

Thor’s Mischievous Brother, Loki

tom hiddleston in thor movie Marvel Movie Updates: Iron Man 2, Thor & Captain America

English-born Tom Hiddleston who we know is playing Loki in Thor wasn’t originally aiming for that role. The 28 year old actor had an in with director Kenneth Branagh, working alongside him in the Brit series Wallander.

When he was still one of the candidates for the title role in Thor, he had to follow a strict eating regiment to bulk up. He ate chicken and chicken salad for every meal with the occasional egg. Basically, he went on a protein frenzy but it was partly all for naught as after a month and a half of this, he finally got the call from Thor producers claiming they want him in the movie. Except, they wanted him for the role of Loki, the God of Mischief instead of Thor.

“I guess it was a relief to go back to my natural body shape.”

No kidding. If you saw some photos of Tom, he is not a thick guy and I honestly could never see him playing Thor. Loki on the other hand, I’m sold on so good on him and Kenneth Branagh’s selection.

Trivia: As a child, Hiddleston played the Marvel Superpower Top Trumps card game.

Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow

Although we still don’t know whether or not Scarlett Johansson attempts and/or succeeds in pulling off a Russian accent as Natasha Romanoff (aka, the Black Widow) in Iron Man 2, we do know that she’ll be laying down the pain on her enemies.

In speaking with UK magazine SFX, she had th the following to say about what the best aspect of her character is:

“Kicking lots of ass. I wanted to give it everything I had.”

“I hate to see a movie where you don’t buy that a character is gonna beat the living s**t out of you. [Laughs] Believing that about yourself is almost as much work as looking like you could beat the s**t out of somebody.”

That’s cool, but do you speak Russian like co-star Mickey Rourke does for his Whiplash character? We’ll have to wait and see.

Fing Fang Foom in Iron Man 2

iron man 2 easter egg fing fang foom Marvel Movie Updates: Iron Man 2, Thor & Captain America

Fing Fang Foom, the giant dragon-like monster of the Marvel Universe will likely be seen in Iron Man 2. If you know anything about this character, that statement may blow your mind but don’t fret, it’s just an Easter egg.

According to Iron Man 2’s lead concept artist, Adi Granov, he was tasked with designing Fin Fang Foom for a little appearance.

“This was my design for Fin Fang Foom for the Iron Man Viva Las Vegas book I was doing with Jon Favreau. But this image in particular was done for the IM movie and used as a billboard in one of the scenes where Iron Man flies past it. It’s very quick, but Jon wanted to have a kind of a cool Easter egg in there.”

Keep a close eye out for this in the film.
