Due to her involvement in the upcoming sequel to Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson has been through an interesting ride up to this point, and we’re still nine months away from the movie’s release.
It all started with some negative reaction at her being cast into the role of the red-haired, slim-fit Russian spy, but after some pictures surfaced of her sporting a new look and reports of her working out for the role, heads were starting to turn in the right direction. Then the first images of her in costume made their way online and they were also received in a positive light helping solidify director Jon Favreau’s decision to give her the role.
Like all of the other contracts we’ve seen actors sign for with Marvel Studios, Scarlett has a multi-picture deal that could bring her and her Russian alter ego back for a couple more movies if Iron Man 2 does well and her character is liked by the fans.
From the footage we saw at the San Diego Comic-Con Iron Man 2 panel, we got a little glimpse of her in action and that seemed fine, but the deciding point for most folks will be how she pulls off the Russian accent which is essential for the character.
So, where could we see her again after Iron Man 2? Iron Man 3 is an obvious choice but there have also been rumblings of her having a part in the most ambitious comic book movie ever, The Avengers.
Screen Rant master Vic was in a group interview with Marvel President of Production, Kevin Feige, in San Diego and he mentioned her as a likely name attached to The Avengers project along with Nick Fury and the S.H.I.E.L.D. organization.
As for the pretty lady playing Natasha Romanoff, Scarlett spoke with Ireland On-Line and openly admitted her desires for more parts in the other Marvel blockbusters in development, and was fond of the idea of a spin-off for Black Widow if fans support her and enjoy her character.
“I hope I get to come back and do it again… The character certainly comes back. We see that she does in the comics and certainly she is a big part of The Avengers. I don’t know if that is where it’s going to go but she is definitely a big part of The Avengers.”
My easy bet is that she’ll definitely be a part of The Avengers. Heck, if Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier has his way, Scarlett will be in four Avengers movies. Speaking of which, The Hulk is a character we really need in the movie. I hope we don’t get a team consisting only of Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Fury, Black Widow and have no big green dude to play with. I would be very disappointed.
I doubt there will be a Black Widow solo film though. There’s too many sequels that will be coming out to the current films and a bunch of other heavily desired characters who need their own films first. One of which is an Iron Fist/Luke Cage team-up film based on the Heroes for Hire comic. That’s something I definitely want to see.

i think she will do just fine. currently she is the least of my worries.
No solo film for sure but if she is in Avengers that would be decent!

I agree with Oscar, the closest thins Black Widow would have to a solo featrure would be as a man character in a Nick Fury agent of S.H.I.E.L.D spin off.
She should be in the avengers, as should the Hulk
Anybody else remember the David Hasselhoff Nick Fury movie? Going off of that, IMO S.H.I.E.L.D. and /or Nick Fury should not have their own movie. No big draws there.
And as much as I like Scarlett, I would love to see her in the Avengers, but putting her in her own movie would be suicide like Halle Berry in Catwoman, or Mrs. Affleck in Electra.

Actually it won’t be, since she will not use an accent. That’s what she said in the Comic-Con group interview!
She should be in the Avengers for sure. The team needs at least one female presence for it’s first outing.
Oliva Munn is suppose to be in IM2 too, and not as herself. Maybe she’ll be in there as a cameo of Janet Van Dyne (the Wasp)
On the subject of the Avengers, I think James Ford would make a perfect Hawkeye. He’s got the right look and sarcastic attitude/swager to do Clint Barton justice.
I think that if the Avengers have a Hawkeye, it should be Logan Marshall-Green, from the TV show Dark Blue on TNT.
For the Avengers they should have:
Capt. America, Ironman, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Hulk.
And introduce, Henry and Janet Pym(Ant-man and Wasp) for Avengers 2.
Nick Fury should be a handle, not directly involved.

Ayup I saw that interview as well. A Russian spy in America with a thick Russian accent wouldn’t be a very good spy
I fully endorse her further involvement with Marvel movies
And I fully endorse whatever skin tight costumes she wears in these movies!
Although Johansson is very hot, I would rather see how well or awful she portrays Black Widow in Iron Man 2 before I start saying i want to see her in more Marvel Films. Personally I’d rather Marvel just finish what they were starting and cast Emily Blunt as Black Widow in Iron Man 3, The Avengers,and S.H.I.E.D. Emily Blunt needs to get that big break and she fits the character way more than Johansson. 20th Century Fox messed up that opportunity for Emily but Marvel can still sign her on for future films as Black Widow.
for the first avengers movie the original roster should be cast and then have the team discover captain america’s frozen body and revive him so then you have antman wasp ironman thor & cap. for avengers sequel i like the roster to be thor ironman captain america scarlet witch black widow hawkeye black panther & giantman
