Marvel has released two new ads in India for their next four films, promising fans, “It doesn’t get bigger than this!” The film studio has been having an incredibly good year so far (unsurprisingly), with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming both massive successes – and Homecoming currently standing as the highest-grossing superhero film of 2017.
Next up on the Marvel slate is Thor: Ragnarok, which is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated movies of the year – and which sets the stage for the biggest event of the MCU thus far: Avengers: Infinity War. The film is set for release in early November, and that means that Marvel is in the throes of a major ad campaign for the film – including a new set of ads in India that are hyping more than just Ragnarok.
The ads were published in the Bangalore Times, and tweeted by Pursue News with the caption: “Waking up to these awesome ads by #Marvel for #ThorRagnarok in #India HYPE! (Tweet by @RAKarthikPrasad) @Marvel_India #Thor #Marvelstudios.” One ad focuses on Thor: Ragnarok, with a full-page image of Chris Hemsworth and the headline, “Thor is back, and he’s not alone.” The second ad shows the logos for Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp, with the headline: “It doesn’t get bigger than this.”
The images themselves are nothing that haven’t been seen before. The logos for the other upcoming films have been revealed for some time, and the image of Hemsworth in the Ragnarok ad is one that has been used in several other parts of the campaign, although not with this specific headline. The words, “It doesn’t get bigger than this,” are also new for this campaign.
The hype for Infinity War has already started, of course, as the MCU has been building to this massive crossover event for some time, but it is interesting to see some more promo for some of the other upcoming films in this cinematic universe. Saying that “it doesn’t get bigger than this” is spot-on, as well, as the Infinity War movies will bring together an absolutely huge number of characters from the massive franchise – and will undoubtedly lead to some big shake-ups in the MCU.
Of course, nothing from these ads is new information – and fans will be hoping that even if the ads for Infinity War are starting already, that they don’t overshadow Black Panther – the first standalone film for a Black hero in the MCU. There is sure to be plenty more to come, of course, as the Marvel PR machine really gets rolling, so fans will have to wait and see what comes after Ragnarok is released.
