The partnership between Marvel and Netflix has produced some of the most enthralling television in recent years, and it all started with the arrival of Daredevil on the streaming service in April, 2015. Following on from that, Jessica Jones made its debut in November of the same year, followed by Daredevil’s second season in March 2016. Luke Cage, a popular character played by Mike Colter in Jessica Jones, gained his own series that debuted in September, and Marvel has plans for a whole lot more, too.

Currently lined up we have Iron Fist, The Punisher, Jessica Jones season 2, Daredevil season 3, and Luke Cage season 2. Perhaps the most exciting, though, is the forthcoming miniseries, The Defenders, which will unite Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist as a superhero quartet. Filled with the festive spirit, Netflix have released a short promo, titled “Wreck the Halls,” featuring footage from Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage. In keeping with the theme, the majority of the clips featured are fight scenes taking place in hallways, including the brilliant hallway fight scene from Daredevil season 1. It’s just not very likely to fill you with festive cheer, that’s all. Take a look, above.

Reprising their roles for The Defenders are the likes of Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/ Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones and the aforementioned Colter as Luke Cage, as well as Finn Jones as Danny Rand/ Iron Fist. Joining the already impressive roster will be several recurring characters, including Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Elodie Yung as Elektra, Eka Darville as Malcolm Ducasse, Rachael Taylor as Trish Walker, Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, and Simone Missick as Misty Knight. Sigourney Weaver will be playing a villainous role, though the exact nature of her character is still unknown.

Before The Defenders reaches our screens, though, we have the final four in this vigilante quartet to make his debut. Iron Fist will focus on Danny Rand, who returns to New York after being missing for 15 years. Rand is a master in martial arts, and, as his alter-ego name might suggest, he has the power of an Iron Fist. To see him teaming up with our other superheroes, all of whom are gifted fighters, will really be something.

Already the leader in superhero movies, Marvel has created a name for itself in the world of TV, too. Its series are darker and more adult than their movies, delivering gritty and emotional storylines that keep viewers coming back for more. The black humor, stunning fight sequences and strong characterization helps, too, as well as watching as all the series tie in together.
