Despite the negative reviews swirling around Iron Fist ahead of its debut on Netflix this Friday, fans are still eager to see the final Defender arrive. After all, once Danny Rand joins the MCU, the stage will be set for The Defenders. Not only will that give Finn Jones' take on the character another chance to shine, but the chemistry between him and Mike Colter's Luke Cage might reassure fans that a Heroes for Hire show is the best way forward. Luckily, the street-level team-up that is The Defenders will be coming this summer, and filming has been underway for some time now.

Thanks to the show shooting out in the streets of New York, and its high profile given the popularity of the previous Marvel/Netflix show, we've been treated to a lot of set photos. One batch has teased Jessica Jones and Daredevil joining forces to work a case, while another has given us the long-awaited reunion of JJ and Luke. That former team-up may just be about finding dirt on Sigourney Weaver's villain, Alexandra. If that's the case, the gang will likely need to do some recon on the entrepreneur and see what she's really up to.

Yesterday, we got a set video showing all of the Defenders minus Matt Murdock on the run in the streets. The same site that brought us that video, ComicCon.news, has a new one showing Matt in his costume as Daredevil as he appears to break into a building with JJ. They're joined by Luke and it appears Colleen Wing and Claire Temple as well. With all hands on deck, the mission is likely an important one. The short scene culminates in the group rifling through some papers, which appear to be blueprints. Could this be a follow-up to the Kingpin's plans in season 1 of Daredevil?

The Defenders Team Luke Cage Daredevil Jessica Jones Iron Fist

We've wondered for some time what sort of threat Weaver's villain could pose considering the Defenders are not only four strong, but have a number of other heroes joining them. In fact, just about every character besides Punisher seems to be showing up, and a recent Daredevil tease may even foreshadow Frank Castle's arrival. If the Defenders are stooping to breaking and entering, something truly nefarious must be afoot.

So far, The Avengers have faced alien invaders and killer robots - so as much as we'd love a grounded, intelligent villain for the Defenders, they still need a threat worthy of their combined talents. After all, the team consists of fighters and superheroes that could easily hold their own against most of the Avengers, meaning they should face a foe just as imposing. Hopefully, with filming in full swing, we'll get a better idea of the plot soon. Perhaps even a trailer is in our near future.
