New images of Marvel's The Defenders show the superheroes coming together. The first Defenders trailer is now online, creating an even bigger buzz for the upcoming Netflix TV miniseries. The show will unite New York's finest vigilantes, as Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Danny Rand (Finn Jones) and Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) all join forces in the fight against Alexandra (Sigourney Weaver), The Hand, and Elektra (Elodie Yung).

The popularity that these four characters have enjoyed thanks to their own eponymous Netflix series, will only be enhanced when they all come together. Along with our superheroes, the cast of supporting regulars from across all the Netflix/Marvel shows will also appear, including Simone Missick as Misty Knight, and Scott Glenn as Stick. Ahead of the series release, comes new promotional images via Netflix, that can be seen in the gallery below.

The stand-off between Luke and Danny in what looks like an alleyway, seems all the more laughable now, since the release of The Defenders trailer. Luke is clearly bemused by Danny, and his abilities, and his cool, calm, smooth exterior is bound to clash with Danny's jumped-up rich boy persona. Meanwhile, Jessica Jones looks cool as ice, of course.

There's also a shot of Jessica getting questioned by Misty Knight, when Matt Murdock arrives and instructs her not to talk. This comes from the opening scene of The Defenders trailer and sets the meeting up nicely between these characters. However, it's the stills where all four Defenders are featured that are the most exciting and intriguing ones to look at. Although an exasperated Claire has to remind them that they're all on the same side, The Defenders are capable of sitting down to dinner, at least.

It also looks as though Stick might be responsible for making The Defenders work as a team; a logical skill for him to teach given that he relies so much on his hearing to figure out his moves. Therefore, he can teach our foursome to listen to one another, to anticipate the opponents next move, and to defend.

There's also a still of Weaver in character. Marvel have stayed with tradition and kept the exact nature of their big bad a closely guarded secret, but if Alexandra's anywhere near as compelling a threat as Killgrave, Kingpin and/or Cottonmouth, then we're in for a real treat. Some rumors state she is actually Mephisto, from Marvel comics, which would tie in with The Hand being a part of The Defenders miniseries. Either way, we can't wait.
