Marvel's Cloak & Dagger will air on Thursdays next year, as part of Freeform's spring 2018 original programming lineup. While Inhumans has been steadily slipping in the ratings and suffering from bad reviews, Marvel is in no way slowing down their TV efforts. Alongside its ever-growing list of Netflix shows, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is all set to return for a cosmic fifth season at the end of this year. Meanwhile, Marvel TV is about to begin its expansion into whole new markets.

Starting next month, Marvel will spread the MCU to both Freeform and Hulu. Things will kick off on the streaming site with the premiere of Runaways, which just received its first trailer. Building on the theme of teen heroes, ABC's Freeform channel will debut both Cloak & Dagger and New Warriors next year. Aside from casting news, not much is known about the latter show. Cloak & Dagger, meanwhile, should be starting promotion for its first season any time now.

Freeform has just posted its spring 2018 schedule, with new shows like grown-ish joining veterans series such as Shadowhunters.  Airing Thursdays next spring, meanwhile, will be Marvel's Cloak & Dagger. There's no word yet on exactly when it will premiere, but January seems likely - seeing as that's when most of the other shows listed are scheduled to debut.

The press release notes that Thursday will be genre-focused, with Beyond starting off Thursday on Jaunary 18. From there, it will lead into mermaid show Siren once that new series arrives on March 29. That gap, however, may reveal when Cloak & Dagger will arrive. With only a 10-episode first season, it's likely that Cloak & Dagger will premiere after Beyond in January and run its course before Siren takes its place. Marvel is typically cagey about revealing when their shows will debut (we still don't know when The Punisher will arrive), but the evidence adds up.

Over the past year, Marvel and Freeform have slowly been revealing more and more about Cloak & Dagger. We've already seen a trailer for Cloak & Dagger, and a new poster arrived for New York Comic Con earlier this month. With a potential January premiere date, it shouldn't be much longer until we get another trailer for the series and more information about its overarching storyline.

Seeing as both Runaways and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 5 will premiere before Cloak & Dagger does, Marvel will probably wait until towards the end of the fall season to offer another substantial look at the latter show. When they do, however, expect the marketing floodgates to properly open for Cloak & Dagger the series.
