Do you remember that little news story last fall about some kiddie-friendly corporation called Disney buying the rights to Marvel, some sort of obscure entertainment body?
Well, one of the many big questions on most everybody’s mind after that financial dealing was how the citizens of the Marvel universe would fit into the world of Mickey Mouse and friends. Well, according to Walt Disney Company president/CEO Bob Iger, characters from the Fantastic Four could be just a few of the superheroes walking around the next time you visit one of the Mouse House’s amusement parks.
L.A. Times contributor Geoff Boucher caught up with Iger during a premiere event at Disney’s California Adventure theme park – which is right next to Disneyland – and got the following bit of information out of the top executive:
“We’re just now considering all of our different options, so it would be premature to say when or where in the parks you would see Marvel characters — but I think it’s safe to say that you’re going to see some of those great Marvel characters walking around in the future.”
While only certain Marvel characters will probably be around the next time you visit, say, the Magic Kingdom in Florida, you can definitely count on running into some of the big names like Captain America, Spider-Man, Iron Man, the X-Men, and Hulk – especially around the time their respective movies arrive in theaters. Personally, I hope Howard the Duck puts in an appearance, if only to watch he and Donald duke it out for the title of dominant bird.

Which characters do you want to see the next time you visit one of the Disney parks? Any thoughts on what Marvel-themed rides you’d like to see Disney develop in the future? Let your voice be heard in the comments section below.
Those who prefer their Marvel heroes on the big screen can still catch Iron Man 2 now in theaters; Thor when it arrives on May 6th, 2011; X-Men: First Class on June 3, 2011; The First Avenger: Captain America on July 22, 2011; The Avengers on May 4, 2012; and the Spider-Man reboot on July 12, 2012.

I just hope they’re ready to clean all the web off the castle.
A quick question…Spidey features prominently in the Universal Theme Park Ads…right next to Shrek & Harry Potter, just as has been done for years; so how will they resolve THIS little mess?
They’re already selling Iron Man toys in the Disney Store.
This might happen in one of the China parks but it’s not going to happen in the US, Europe or Japan. At least not anytime soon. Maybe in 10 years and even that is overly optimistic. Due to Marvels previous contract with Universal, Universal has exclusive rights to the characters east of Mississippi.
There is a Disney park in California.
Would love to see an Iron Man ride, though.
I think “east of Mississippi” was a pun. Universal has the rights right now, but I think it’s losing those soon.
i want to see thor & ironman at any one of the disney theme parks
Disney is a massive corporation that wants to swallow anything that is making a profit. Afterwards to turn it into a faceless item.
Can you imagine Spiderman or any other hero, adapted for 3 or 4 year old kids, who will watch it along with other Disney movies? Nope..
Suck a lollipop disney..suck.
I hope we never see them see any marvel characters in disney parks. Simply because disney characters have their own magic and charm and if you inject marvel characters into that it will just ruin the whole Disney atmosphere we all feel when visiting disney parks!
If you want marvel characters to walk around somewhere just build a seperate park. Please just don’t ruin the disney charm and atmosphere!
