I’m sorry to hear that Romanek dropped out of the project. I have always enjoyed his work.

In Romanek’s defense, his track record doesn’t exactly shout “low budget.” For example, he directed the video for ‘Scream’ with Michael and Janet Jackson in 1995; it was (and still is) the most expensive music video ever made. Plus, $100 million isn’t the record-breaking movie budget it once was. Check out the following statistic from the MPAA:

“The average cost to make and market a major MPAA member company film was $100.3 million in 2006. This includes $65.8 million in negative costs and $34.5 million in marketing costs.”
