Well, I was worried when I heard Michael Keaton was going to play Batman but he turned out fine. Maybe Shia will as well.

Shia is not right for this role. Yorick Brown is an attractive man, and Shia looks like a weird teenager. I've never found him to be a strong or convincing character, but I will admit he has a place in the film industry. Not as an adult right though. He just doesn't look the part. I am a huge fan of movies and Y: The Last Man, so I would be extremely disappointed if Shia played the role. I feel like it would ruin the whole movie for me, and I wouldn't even be interested in seeing it. Why would I trust D.J. Caruso to make the rest of the film fit the comic book I love when he can't even cast a convincing character for the most important role?

For starter i never thought Shia would be a good fit for Yorick, but I did like how he was familar with the comics.Other than that, he was not right for the role. Yorick is probably one of the only comic book characters that i havent casted in my head for a movie ( since they are never really left alone, and all do become movie characters) but a friend of mine did mention one actor who i think possibly could do it, Chris Pine (Captin Kirk- Star Trek). He seems like he could handle the wit and humor of Yorick, along with bringing more to the role. I know that one of the points Shia makes for not wanting to do the part is that he will be too old for it when it does finally get around to shooting, but who is ever really the right age in the movie, you have thirty year olds playing seventeen year old high school jock for cryin out loud. When in all truth he does look too young and doesnt seem to have the emotional acting skills to take on the part. So i am a happy Y: The Last Man fan, at least for now.

I somewhat dislike the comparisons to Transformers -- that is a cartoon franchise (even the live-action movies) and Y is a deep, emotionally wrenching experience. Xigbar, give it another chance! I promise the Amazons are only a major part of the story for the first 2 (of 10) books.

As for who could play Yorick, how about Zachary Levi or Michael Cera?

For those unfamiliar with Y, all the males on the planet drop dead(as i recall even the sperm with y chromosomes becomes sterile) except for a young man and his pet monkey, who luckily we never get to see spanked. The world is then run by women who split into various warring factions, and once the young man's existence is known they're all trying to get their hands on him in an attempt to keep the race going - except for Amazons who want to kill him. This is what i remember from the few issues i read, and as i recall it's quite fascinating stuff, but this La Beouf kid looks way too weird for such an everyman figure.

I could never really get into the Y series.
The plot was interesting enough I guess but the Amazon characters annoyed the crap out of me.

I am not familar with the books Y the Last Man but I feel if Shia wants to do this he should wait until he is 28yrs old. Why? He is over exposed! At age 23 he is being fed to us as a lawyer, stockbroker, action hero Whoa! do a comedy or something!!We as an audience can only suspend our imagination for so long,we need a Shia break or a Shia breakthough!
