It’s been a long wait, to get a peek under Man of Steel‘s cape. Born from a tightly-guarded storyline crafted by Dark Knight Trilogy architects Christopher and Jonathan Nolan and David S. Goyer - and crafted by the hand of visionary director Zack Snyder (300), the Superman reboot has been considered to either be the best of both worlds (in terms of filmmaking), or an experiment that could blow up in DC Comics and Warner Bros.’ faces.

Teaser trailers have revealed that this modernized interpretation of the Superman origin and mythos will include some deep, probing questions about what it is to live as a god-like orphan on an alien world; however, we’ve seen little to no action from this Superhero blockbuster. Today’s Man of Steel trailer is here to put that complaint to rest, for good.

Henry Cavill as Superman in ‘Man of Steel’

It’s hard to see the footage here and not give Snyder props; more so than his predecessors – like Richard Donner and Bryan Singer – Snyder has captured the aesthetic and concept of super powers in action, according to “realistic” standards. That is to say: the actual physics of Superman’s powers is something we can definitely feel – which is going to make for an awesome experience in the theater. Blockbuster superhero flick, indeed.

Man of Steel is directed by Zack Snyder, from a script by David S. Goyer and screen story by Goyer and Christopher Nolan. It stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Laurence Fishburne, Russell Crowe, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Harry Lennix and Michael Kelly.

Man of Steel will be in 2D and select 3D/IMAX theaters on June 14th, 2013.

  1. No words just breathtaking and i like that there’s some comedy in it.

    • What a fantastic trailer, I’ve already watched 3 times in a row.

I absolutely love the music,, just perfect.

  3. pretty fantastic! looking forward to it, but the action scenes went by too quick for my taste. too quick.

  4. Well, I’m convinced.

  5. its not an “s?” looks fantastic though

    • But, hey, so does the fact that Superman’s entire race resembles humans, so, maybe there’s some “that kinda makes sense” explanation.

    • That was actually Marlon Brando’s idea from way back in 77.

      • sorry, i havent really followed much… im a bit of a bandwagoner

  6. At the very least, if this bombs, it seems people can say “Hey, at least this movie TRIED.”

    Sure seems like it.

  7. I love that Zod & his ilk are bringing crazy Kryptonian tech to the mix instead of just being copies of Superman. Based on everything we’ve seen so far, I’d guess that Superman alone has the yellow sun powers, and the other Kryptonians only have their suits and technology since they haven’t been soaking in the yellow sun for 30 years like Kal-El.

I especially love the scenes right before they get sent to the Phantom Zone, where he threatens that he’ll find Jor-El’s son.

    • You and I both! I remember the first version of Zod (back when C. Reeves was Superman) screamed and promised the same thing as the window to the Phantom zone was twirling into space.

  8. Wow! -Jaw Drops- Maybe now they can just erase that , Bryan singer film from memory. This is how it should have been made from the get go. No Disrespect to the originals of course.

But if your going to do a re-boot do it right and not boring.

    • Gaahhh I’d all but forgotten about it till you mentioned it!!! -goes to watch the trailer again-

  9. Sold 100000000 times over.

  11. Incredible! This is by far my number 1 movie for this summer – Iron Man is a warm up for THIS!!

    • I did….I did see that. And it was wonderful.

  14. I loved how Lois was stopped short. Brilliant! My interest level hasn’t changed: this movie can’t play soon enough. My only qualms are that the music they chose didn’t quite feel epic enough for me and the action scenes cut too quickly. Please be a great movie!

    • I really hope we’ll hear the Superman theme from Alexander Courage somewhere into the movie (ta-dada Ta-dada…ta-ta-ta-tata…). Brings me goosebumps the size of tangerines everytime.

  15. It was okay at best. For some reason I can’t get excited for this film. I’m not hating on it, and I am anticipating it, but I’m just not excited for it.

  16. So, er, who exactly is young Clark pretending to be with that red cape on?

    • just a generic superhero. when you think hero you just always consider someone with a cape.

    • Who says it’s a young Clark? That might be at the end of the movie, maybe some kid pretending to be Superman. You never know.

    • How do you know its superman? It could just be a kid that saw him on the news and is now pretending to be him…..

    • This was sorta figured out early on when the first trailers came out. It’s a kid who heard about Superman on the news. People are getting confused because in the trailers the kid is shown early in the timeline when the voiceover is talking about Superman’s beginnings, but it’s actually from the middle arc of the film.

    • Noble heroes throughout history have worn capes or armor or various other pieces of attire showing their warrior proclivities (their bent toward “fighting the good fight”, so to speak). Sure, the color might be hinting at what (and WHO) is to come to the knowing audience, but to the little boy of the world set up in the film, it’s likely just a brightly-hued noble knight’s/Prince Charming’s/epic hero’s cape…a symbol to the child of all he dreams of being.

…it could also be that Clark, as a boy, rooting through his parents’ closets/storage shed/barn/etc. finds this cape and thinks it’s so cool that he decides to play with it…as little boys tend to do.

  17. To all the nay-Sayers.. To all the annoying superman haters.. To the Snyder haters.. To the Nolan haters.. To the pessimistic.. To everyone who speaks down toward hope.. To those who would see glittered eyes be dulled in the wake of misguided prejudice and overall buzzkill.. Let thine mouths be closed, and eyes and hearts be opened.. To something that just MIGHT surprise the world.. As being the greatest superman film to grace the silver screen..

    • Preach on, great Lightbearer!

    • brilliant!

  18. Damn.

  19. Is the fortress of solitude a second spaceship from what I saw? The absolute brute strength he is showing looks awesome!!

Also love the way he cut of Lois before she said superman. What an exciting summer it will be

    • yes it does indeed look like another ship unground.

    • Great question, I have been wondering the same thing. I have a fun theory about it: Jor-El had an interstellar craft orbiting Krypton, the pod holding Kal-El rises up and docks with it. The larger ship flies to the Solar System, the pod detaches & lands on earth, the larger ship lands at some other time.

      • That would be quite cool. The smaller pod is still fairly large though, it takes up a whole barn. Just thought, if they are keeping it a bit more realistic will the ship crash by the Kent farm or just land, because a crash may well destroy the ship and a baby supes

        • Can’t destroy baby supes.

  20. This looks so incredibly great to me i just can not wait its been a really rough and hard junior year for me at high school i need a little superman. :)

    • I feel you, junior year is a pain and this is the only thing getting me through

    • Keep your head up bro. Went through the same things…it’s tough but we all make it through just fine, and you will too. Big things ahead that will make this seem small! Including Superman. Keep going!

  21. Looks amazing, this trailer got me to a whole new level of stoked. Is the music from Hans Zimmer in this trailer this time? It was really good.

  22. Looking good!! Let’s hope they lose the shaky-cam when the sequel comes out.

  23. Mind blown. :D

  24. what a great trailer

  25. NO CAPES!!!!

  26. Is that lex corp at 2:18

    • Hell yeah, it is!!!!! I went back and checked.

  27. Holy Crap! Visuals look amazing! Story looks amazing! Action looks amazing! Zod looks amazing! Superman looks amazing! Holy Crap Holy Crap Holy Crap! All of DC’s movies better look like this.

  28. Is it June yet?!?!!
