Several websites have posted exclusive images from Machete, the feature-length treatment of the fake trailer that showed with the 2007 Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino sleazefest, Grindhouse.

Being kind as we are here at Screen Rant, we’ve gone and assembled all of these new pics together in a single image gallery for you to peruse through as you please.

Machete revolves around the titular tough guy (Danny Trejo), a Mexican Federale who takes on a mission from the mysterious Michael Benz (Jeff Fahey) to assassinate the devious Senator McLaughlin (Robert De Niro).  When the job turns out to be a trap that leaves him for dead, Machete sets out get revenge with the aid of his priest brother, Padre Benito del Toro (Cheech Marin) and Luz (Michelle Rodriguez), a “saucy taco slinger.”

The film costars Steven Seagal as the Texan drug lord Torrez, Lindsay Lohan as Benz’s (I presume) daughter, April, and Jessica Alba as an ICE agent hot in pursuit of Machete.  Rodriguez wrote the screenplay in collaboration with his cousin Álvaro and co-directed the flick alongside his longtime associate editor, Ethan Maniquis.

The big challenge for Machete will be whether or not it can maintain the entertainingly ludicrous, pulpy atmosphere of the original Grindhouse trailer for its duration.  The “illegal” Machete movie trailer was amusing enough and the “wronged man on a quest for vengeance” premise is something Rodriguez has handled before in all three entries of his Mexico trilogy.  We’ll wait and see if he can deliver yet another funny and violent B-movie experience.

You can help pass the time by checking out the new pics from the film in the gallery below, which includes shots of Trejo looking as intimidating as ever and Alba doing some of her best acting work (re: the kind that doesn’t require her to deliver dialogue):

Machete attacks theaters in the U.S. on September 3rd, 2010.

  1. Looks to be at least a fun film as long as the political bent of the film doesn’t become overbearing. I want to be entertained… not preached at. The trailer left me a bit iffy, but as long as its only a part of the story and not the point of the story, it looks to be good popcorn flick.

    • Yeah, that trailer left a VERY bad taste in my mouth. Why not just have the entire story take place in Mexico? Like they have a lack of corruption in government and law enforcement?

We’ll see if the film isn’t as heavy handed as the trailer.

      • lighten up. it is a b-movie. what were you expecting, potemkin?

  2. You need to post the new Michelle Rodriguez poster for Machete (posted at joblo)! It’s SO friggin HOT.

    • im definately seeing thing, message or not. looks like there might be a showdown between trejo and segal, that alone is worth the ticket price for me.

      • i would prefer to see a showdown between michelle rodriguez and lindsay lohan.

  3. i love b-movies. roger corman was a genius and pulled his stories straight from the headlines and always reflected the mood of the moment. like it or not, mexicans are a hot topic this year. i am looking forward to seeing this movie.

    • Yea, I’m sure you are just Ford Agency material yourself.

  4. How about some Lindsay stills or her poster as “The Sister”????

    • they say that bad publicity is good publicity.

yes, i agree, i think that sister lohan’s image should be all over the place – stills, posters, mc happy meal action figures, slurpee cups, t-shirts, mouse pads, etc. she looks great wearing an AK-47.

  5. Looks like a fun ride. :)
