I thought of Stephen King’s CELL, about a cell phone signal that turns most of mankind into zombies. Looks like http://www.shocktillyoudrop.com/news/topnews.php?id=4487 does, too.

I will say that it is effective for what it is.

I’d almost be tempted to say this movie would be better off if we didn’t know what was causing it, or only vaguely so - maybe giving it a communicable nature instead and leaving it at that. Hitchcock didn’t need to tell us what was making the birds attack and Shyamalan has shown us flashes of Hitchock in his early works. If only he were able to capture the kind of consistency Hitchcock had, we wouldn’t feel the need to keep wondering if his films will be any good “this time”.

In any case, I’m going to wait and see on this. I’m not overly enthusiastic despite the fact that the trailer does inspire a bit of creepiness, because I’ve already been spoiled on what’s causing it.

Jersey, I agree! Leave some mystery, don’t explain every little thing. Of course that would end up annoying half the audience like it did in Cloverfield. :-)

I have to respect M.Night, the guy blew my mind with The Sixth Sense in 1999, and I still haven’t got over it.
I think that there are enough good moments in Lady in the Water to make it worthwhile. However, don’t get me wrong it is flawed!

Is it just me or is this a reboot of “Day of the Triffeds”….(Evil flowers). >ยป
Sound like the same premise.

IMO,it seems McKnight’s hit a kind of bottom creativly.

Heath, I think that Stephen King novel “CELL” is actually happening here in L.A.
Should I get out of town or is there some happy ending? :)

The trailer looks creepy enough, but I learned my lesson with M Night’s films after “The Village.” I will wait and maybe check it out when it’s on DVD.

Well hell, I guess the studio doesn’t want anyone to see the trailer…

Yea that’s a great sign of confidence in the film.

Mknight is really kinda just repeating himself with this film.

Reminds me of “Signs”.
IMO.

Btw I know I’m misspelling his name. That’s half the fun.

I get the same feeling from this as I did with The Mist trailer. I mean if it had just showed the mist, and everyones gone….AWESOME! But noooo, Look heres exactly whats going on! Now I don’t need to see the movie anymore, aint it great?!?

Hey Hirogen,
^
Besides what you said I have no interest in this film. :)

According to Variety, it’ll have an R rating: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117960659.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

This could all change, of course, thanks to the fickle ratings board.

I hope thats not going to be in the real movie. Its just so wrong. I wish it would be PG-13 instead and take some of that gross stuff out.

Judging from the trailers, I am ready to give M Night another chance. I know he served us crap in his last two movies, but even the best directors make duds every once in a while. I will forgive and forget his past transgressions if his new movie entertains me. That is all I ask… entertain me. If he does not do that, well I will never pay to go the theater to see another one of his films. This is how
I presently feel about Ron Howard.

So far from what I’ve heard this film is a half-ars Steven King knock off…..

I don’t have any personal probs with Shamalayn. But if he makes a stinker I’m gonna say, hey that stinks.
So far this is putting off a buzz stench…
