If you’ve been keeping up with the news about the sixth and final season of Lost, you’ll be well aware that every promo they’ve released hasn’t included any new footage or material. This is probably due to the fact that they want to keep as much in the bag as possible before the season premiere at the start of next month. And personally, as  huge fan of the show who wants to be as surprised as possible when it airs, I’m digging that marketing strategy.

However, if you’re someone desperate to see something (ANYTHING) new promoting the final season then you’re in luck: ABC has released two official promo images that places the main cast from season 6 at The Last Supper (in the same vein as was used for both Battlestar Galactica and House).

There are two images that differ slightly from one another – one is the cast sitting, facing you, while the other is them staring at John Locke (Terry O’Quinn) who is seated in the middle where Jesus sits in Leonardo Da Vinci’s painting.

I know a lot of you die-hard Lost fans out there will be looking for clues in both of those pics, but word is there isn’t really any (not hidden, anyway). I think what’s most interesting about the images is that Locke is positioned as the savior in the middle, with all the rest surrounding him, looking to him. It’s similar to the first cast image that was revealed at the Lost panel at Comic-Con last year (which was then used as the first poster) where all the cast members from previous seasons (save for a few) were there, but Locke was standing in the middle with his back to us.

Remember the repeated question in season 5 which was eventually asked to Richard – “What lies in the shadow of the statue?” Richard replied in Latin, “Ille qui nos omnes servabit” which means “He who will save us [or “protect”] us all.” Could that have alluded to what’s going to happen with Locke in season 6, as the image above clearly hints at? I’m not sure, but I know I absolutely can’t wait to find out!

Thoughts on these two images? What do you think the significance is of Locke sitting in the middle with everyone else looking at him?

The sixth and final season of Lost premieres on Tuesday February 2nd at 9:00pm, on ABC.
