Lost – The Last Supper

If you’ve been keeping up with the news about the sixth and final season of Lost, you’ll be well aware that every promo they’ve released hasn’t included any new footage or material. This is probably due to the fact that they want to keep as much in the bag as possible before the season premiere at the start of next month. And personally, asĀ  huge fan of the show who wants to be as surprised as possible when it airs, I’m digging that marketing strategy.

However, if you’re someone desperate to see something (ANYTHING) new promoting the final season then you’re in luck: ABC has released two official promo images that places the main cast from season 6 at The Last Supper (in the same vein as was used for both Battlestar Galactica and House).

There are two images that differ slightly from one another – one is the cast sitting, facing you, while the other is them staring at John Locke (Terry O’Quinn) who is seated in the middle where Jesus sits in Leonardo Da Vinci’s painting.

Here are the two images below, courtesy of Collider (click for larger versions):

I know a lot of you die-hard Lost fans out there will be looking for clues in both of those pics, but word is there isn’t really any (not hidden, anyway). I think what’s most interesting about the images is that Locke is positioned as the savior in the middle, with all the rest surrounding him, looking to him. It’s similar to the first cast image that was revealed at the Lost panel at Comic-Con last year (which was then used as the first poster) where all the cast members from previous seasons (save for a few) were there, but Locke was standing in the middle with his back to us.

Remember the repeated question in season 5 which was eventually asked to Richard – “What lies in the shadow of the statue?” Richard replied in Latin, “Ille qui nos omnes servabit” which means “He who will save us [or “protect”] us all.” Could that have alluded to what’s going to happen with Locke in season 6, as the image above clearly hints at? I’m not sure, but I know I absolutely can’t wait to find out!

Thoughts on these two images? What do you think the significance is of Locke sitting in the middle with everyone else looking at him?

The sixth and final season of Lost premieres on Tuesday February 2nd at 9:00pm, on ABC.

  1. BSG already did that. Be original.

  2. I’m wondering if there is any reason as to the characters switching places in the bottom photo.

Claire is now where Richard was sitting.
    Hurley is where Clarie was.
Richard is where Hurley was sitting.
Sun and Ben have traded places standing up.

It could just be the creative liberty of the photographer or could it mean something else?

  3. The producers of this show have everyone tricked into think this is still a good show.

  4. This show is still awesome! This marketing campaign is like most things “lost”, it gives you just enough information to keep you thinking about it.

  5. @Justin,

Tricked? It IS still a good show… One of the best.

  6. ****season 5 Spolier****

I dont think its the ‘real’ locke. I’m still curious how they will explain the double locke trick, as seen in the last episode.

  7. @ Jeremy

That link is hilarious! I’m thinking of stringing them together and making myself a “Last Supper Parody” screensaver for work.

  8. @ Jessie
That will be a long screensaver – these parodies keep cropping up.

  9. Well, of COURSE it’s not the real Locke. It’s “the man in black”, Jacob’s rival, seen at the beginning of the season 5 finale. Jacob confirmed that when he said “So you’ve found your loophole.” The “Double-Locke” trick is simple when you think about the fact that the smoke monster can appear as different people….. (i.e. Alex, Yemi, Christian, Walt, etc.)

  10. how could the producers “trick” us into thinking its a good show either u like it or u don't bu cant trick someone into liking a show.

  11. What's up with Claire and Miles switching sides?

  12. What's up with Claire and Miles switching sides?

  13. to me, two sides (Floke's & Jacob's crew), then: how it starts and how it ends.
some ppl switch sides, that makes it even more interesting.

  14. So is Sayid supposed to be Judas in the picture? Also why does fake john locke need an army? And i'd really like to know if Richard has 4 toes.

  15. if you look at the photo flocke has so far recruited Kate Sayid Claire Sawyer and he might end with richard and illana on his side to
