If you’ve been reading Screen Rant every day for the past few weeks, you’ll probably have noticed all the promo stuff we’ve been covering for the final season of ABC’s hit mystery-drama, Lost. And if you’re particularly observant you’ll notice I’ve been doing a lot of the posts covering it and that’s because I’m a self-confessed obsessed Lost fan.
I’m one of those people who go on Lost news sites and forums to find out the latest casting addition to my favorite show (although I try to remain relatively spoiler-free) or swap theories on what the numbers (4 8 15 16 23 42) mean or why John Locke is so special. I have Lostpedia.org on my internet favorites list, and often will peruse it to remind myself what happened on a particular episode in season 2 or what Shannon’s step-mother’s name is. And I totally get that for non-Lost fans this obsessiveness about the show can be a bit annoying, in the same way I find some (young) people’s obsession with High School Musical both annoying and bewildering.
Well, the satirical news site The Onion has put together a hilarious video entitled “Final Season of ‘Lost’ Promises To Make Fans More Annoying Than Ever”. With the aid of Lost writers and exec producers, Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse (or “Darlton” as we fans refer to them ), the video points out and makes fun of the fact that the final season of the show will cause fans to obsess more than ever about the mysteries that will inevitably crop up.
We have the video here as our latest Screen Rant pick, and it should be enjoyed by both fans of Lost who don’t mind poking a little fun at themselves, as well as those who will agree that obsessive fans of the show are completely annoying whenever they force their theories on others. Just be warned, there are a couple of references to events that have happened in the show, so if you’re not caught up with it so far then you might want to give it a miss. For the rest of you, enjoy:
Funny, huh? As I said, I am completely aware how annoying we obsessive Lost fans can be to someone who doesn’t share our passion. But that doesn’t mean we’re going to stop obsessing .
Lost season 6 premieres on Tuesday February 2nd at 9:00pm, on ABC.
