Warner Bros. has plans to make a new film that is inspired by their iconic Looney Tunes and Merry Melodie cartoons - the twist, however, is that it won't actually feature Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, or any of their animated comrades.

The studio has purchased a pitch from Dan and Kevin Hageman to make an ACME Movie, which will revolve around the fictional corporation that supplied the Looney Tunes characters (especially Wile E. Coyote) with endless amounts of destructive materials to create comic mayhem.

Like the upcoming Bugs Bunny and Pepé Le Pew film projects, the ACME movie will be a live-action/CGI hybrid that - according to Heat Vision - "recalls the Amblin pics of the 1980s or a 'Men in Black'-style movie." None of the Looney Tunes will actually appear in the film, which leaves us at a bit of a loss as to who the animated stars of the feature will be. Will the ACME movie introduce a whole new crew of toons that will use (and abuse) the items sold by the warehouse?

This ACME project will be the first in a new franchise if Warner Bros. officials get their way. It's not, per se, a terrible idea, but we're really not sure why the studio is so enthused about the premise. Does anyone really watch a Looney Tunes short and think twice about what ACME is or where it came from?

ACME movie Looney Tunes
ACME has a fairly diverse range of products.

Space Jam mixed CG Looney Tunes with actual humans (*insert Wayne Knight joke here*) and did well enough at the box office, but the last movie that featured Bugs and co., Looney Tunes: Back in Action, proved to be fairly unpopular with the masses. No one thinks of ACME without remembering, say, Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner - so making a movie that doesn't feature them or any of their cartoon friends just seems like a bad move from the get go, no?

Could an ACME Movie still take stand on its own two feet, even without the Looney Tunes along for the ride? Does anyone really care enough about this project to even try and answer that question?
