With rumors swirling of an E-Trade Baby movie, I guess it’s not all that surprising that Neil Moritz (The Bounty Hunter, Fast & Furious, I Am Legend) is reportedly producing a Look Who’s Talking remake.
Pajiba seems to be the source of all baby-related movie news in the universe.
Somebody (Moritz?) realized technology has improved unbelievably since ’89, saw the original box office receipts and probably committed to the project right then and there. I’d say there are worse things going on in Hollywood, but given that an E-Trade baby movie is on the way, I don’t see how terrible cannibalization for both flicks can be avoided.
So let’s get down to business about this Look Who’s Talking remake. As mentioned, Moritz is producing and we have no word on a director, writers or actors. Here’s an unofficial plot synopsis of the original from IMDB, for those who missed the film:
“Mollie is an accountant who has been having an affair with one of her clients, Albert, who happens to be married. When she becomes pregnant by him, she feels that he will be there always for her and the new baby. But when she gives birth, he breaks it off and Mollie is left to raise a new baby all by herself. She also is searching for the perfect father for her new son, Mikey. She meets James, a swift cab driver, who seems to be a perfect match with her and Mikey. But when Albert comes to her, who will Mollie choose?”
The synopsis leaves out the freakin’ talking baby, which is pretty much the whole movie.
Now for the E-Trade Baby movie. Fox is developing it. Kate Dippold (writer for Parks and Recreation and MadTV) is penning the script. The film is reportedly a “mission movie,” where the babies have to make their way across a playground. No word on a director or actors.
Sometimes things are so messed up that you can’t even make fun of them. They just make you sad. This is one of those times.
No word on official release dates for the Look Who’s Talking remake or the E-Trade Baby movie.
