Loki's head writer Michael Waldron teases unexpected Marvel cameos in the upcoming Disney+ show. Tom Hiddleston's days of playing the god of mischief will continue after Avengers: Endgame set up an alternate timeline where Loki escaped the Avengers' capture in 2012. This is possible after he acquired the Tesseract and unknowingly altered how events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe were supposed to unfold. Loki will see him taken into custody by the Time Variance Authority and asked to help fix the sacred timeline he is responsible for throwing into chaos.

Throughout the beginning of Marvel Studios' journey of making shows for Disney+, WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier both included familiar MCU characters and new Marvel characters in support of their leading heroes. When it comes to Loki, the series is confirmed to introduce the likes of Mobius M. Mobius (Owen Wilson) and Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), both of whom are characters from the comics. However, there are no announcements of familiar MCU characters appearing beyond Loki.

Based on a new interview with Loki's head writer Michael Waldron, there might just be some surprise Marvel cameos in the Disney+ show. Waldron is making the rounds to promote the series ahead of the debut of its first episode and recently spoke to Digital Spy. The outlet asked him about which Marvel characters will appear in Loki. He said, "If they were within the rights, and legal could clear it, there was no reason we couldn't try and chase them down." The site then asked for a more specific answer about who could cameo in the show, leading Waldron to tease that fans should "expect the unexpected."

President Loki

Loki is uniquely positioned to feature any Marvel character Waldron wants thanks to its setting. The show will explore an alternate timeline and possibly multiple other universes, so there is no limit to what or who can appear. Mobius and Renslayer will be major characters throughout the series, and the marketing for Loki has teased potential appearances by Thor, Heimdall, Grandmaster, Lady Loki, and even Mephisto. There are even rumors about Lady Sif, Kang, Enchantress, the Squadron Supreme, and others appearing on Loki's multiverse adventures.

With Loki's release on Disney+ incredibly close, fans will soon begin to see who does appear in the show and how. Depending on who appears, the series could present current MCU actors with a chance to play different versions of their characters. Just as the series is expected to include multiple versions of Loki, fans would get a kick out of other MCU characters getting the same opportunity. Loki has plenty of potential to surprise fans along the way, and it sure sounds like this will happen as new episodes are released.
