Rumor Patrol: Lindsay Lohan Could Star In ‘Superman’ Reboot

Published 4 years ago by , Updated August 24th, 2013 at 9:50 am,

Before anyone’s head explodes, please allow us to reiterate: Lindsay Lohan has apparently been in talks with Zack Snyder and his Superman: Man of Steel crew for a few weeks now and could be a contender to star in the film – but not as the object of Supe’s affection, Lois Lane.

Reps for the (put mildly) troubled 24-year-old actress say that Lohan is up to play a different “major character” in the Superman reboot, possibly the film’s other significant female player, rumored to be the Kryptonian villainess, Ursa.

TMZ is the source of this apparently legitimate story, and were informed that “Lindsay’s people” have held several phone conversations with the Man of Steel filmmakers about their client signing on for Kal-El’s return to the silver screen. Lohan is reportedly “dying to show people again how talented she is,” and that there’s more to her life than simply making the tabloids for floating in and out of rehab for drug use and (more recently) possibly becoming a felon due to a grand theft charge.

It’s been several years since Lohan was known as the bright-eyed, freckled cutesy girl and star of family-friendly Disney pics like the Freaky Friday remake or the popular high school comedy Mean Girls. Her most recent film, Machete, saw her getting down n’ dirty with Danny Trejo and playing an aimless, party-happy gal whose behavior was likely too similar to Lohan’s real-life antics for some people’s comfort. Could a role in Superman be the starlet’s ticket to turning her floundering career around?

Obviously the casting of Lohan in the new Superman movie would be a risky move on Warner Bros.’ part, and it’ll be pricier for the studio to insure the actress than it would be to hire just about any other under-25-year-old thespian. There’s very good reason to be skeptical about this casting possibility, especially given the stature of other actress vying for a Man of Steel role and the fact that studio execs are undoubtedly very nervous about stirring up any negative buzz around an expensive, F/X heavy franchise title like this. Not to mention – would Lohan as Ursa or another Superman character even work?

With Henry Cavill already cast as Superman, look to hear some more official casting news about Superman: Man of Steel soon. In the meantime, feel free to share your thoughts about Lohan (and as always, keep them civil) with us in the comments section below.

  1. Wow….I wonder how this BS rumor started?

My guess is that a Marvel studio exec (stooge) sent TMZ an email saying they heard that Lohan is up for a role in the next Superman film!

  2. whats the latest on lindsay lohan

  3. I hope Warner Bros doesn’t treat Superman like Marvel treats Iron Man. Marvels didn’t want Jon Favreau to direct Iron Man 3 because he was “too” expensive and I’m gonna bet that Iron Man 3 is gonna suck because of this. So, WB, if you’re reading this please don’t take this risk. Although, on second thought I think it will be great to see Lindsay as the villain, so that I can see her get killed by Supes haha

    • Yeah. What a difference a day makes, huh. 😛

  4. This would be another horrible casting choice. What are movie studios thinking lately?

  5. Lindsay Lohan just got in trouble again for allegedly stealing a necklace. I don’t think she will get the part.

  6. NO!

  7. Well, I guess it depends on how big her role is, but if she ends up being Lois Lane…ergh.

    • Did you not see that the article says she will not play Lois Lane?

  8. I hope she gets this part, maybe she’ll quit stealing necklaces.

  9. I dislike every rumor coming out of this movie. Guess I’ll be waiting for 2016’s reboot of the reboot.

  10. well it looks like supes will never get his chance to shine if they keep screwing him over in his own movies

  11. I thought it was such great news when the studio said they were bringing in Nolan but he obviously has no input on this movie and that’s what is killing me. The deadline to get the movie in production is what’s killing the whole thing. Otherwise, they could wait until after Nolan is done with the Bat and then direct but that’s not going to happen.

  12. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Yea,that about says it

  13. dont any of you watch the news? shes goin back to jajil for stealing a knecklace! stop whining

    • pretty naive to think she be “doing time”. probably a couple weeks @ best. plenty of time to be in and make zack snyder’s Slow-mo Man…er Superman movie suck worse than it will anyway.

  14. jail* im at school

  15. *dammit didnt mean type that either*

  16. ????????????????? Has someone lost their damn mind????

  17. I have to call foul on so many levels of all the possible actresses to consider this is the lease inspired choice. I hope for her sake she gets some jail time to ground herself before she further self destructs.

  18. is this for real,is this true, Oh my God this is to hard to believe, But Miracles do happen and the most unsuspecting things can happen for good. I know some you guys are exploding and angered by this news, it could go two ways 1. the bubble of how this film is coming about will burst and the making and production will get pulled and put back to many years more and it will turn to the same fate as Tim Burtons proposed superman of yester year. 2 There could be a possible miracle Lindsey could prove her self in this to a point that it could be a turn around for her. It could be that one break that she just needed to help put back on track.3not only that but to get this film made I suppose they have to put out these bits of news to possibly see what the reaction might be that could be another thing ,lindsey might not always be to our liking to this film but we have no power over it, unless we really know the producer and maybe our comments could be given to him. We all love superman, we all have our views on which why and how we want films we like to be. I just hope that the story is strong, good and is very engaging, that the parts that are written for the actors who will eventually be selected will be of high class stuff. This film has got to be treated seriously in the nature of all good and classic films. The script has to have a very very strong hook that when actors read it that they will fight to be in the film. If it does’nt have that then the big rubbish of the hype machine is wasting our time misleading us on spin after spin,, If their going to make it for crying out loud get a MAKE IT Im sick and tired of the indecisiveness of this film . Just stop goofing around or this film will never get made,, GET THE RIGHT STORY, THE RIGHT SCRIPT, AND THE BEST RIGHT ACTORS AND SHOOT instead of this to and fro to and fro,, They have loads of money to make it if there not going to use the money well they could do some good with it and be real supermen,,,, rather than making hollywood with its suits, lawyers, stars, and richer and more self centered and ungrateful by the day. while the rest of us have to struggle, maybe while making this film if they do they could give allot of people in need of work some needed employment who are not connected to the film world give the ordinary folk a pay back for all the years we have been coming to the cinema for years.. now that would be super —

  19. “Troubled actress….”. Thats very kind. I’d use a different adjective, and a different noun.

  20. I will kill myself, if she’ll be playing on Superman reboot.

    • Ummm how will that affect ANYone in the production of the film? You’ll be dead, and they’ll have one less critic to worry about.

  21. I’d be happy with her in the movie as long as she is some evil b**** that that matches her personality that he beats the crap out of
