The premise of the show is Clark Kent's life before he became Superman. It was always known at the beginning of season 7 that Micheal Rosenbaum and Kristen Kruek will be leaving. They said this at the CW party. The show still has all the other characters and Clark still hasn't gone for his training which is how it should end. Michael Rosenbaum is a great actor but this is not a show about Lex Luther, it's about Clark Kent and that is just one aspect of his life. I think the show should and could go another season.

How do we not know Michael isn't just looking for his next big thing for his personal career and making a slight initiative to get the work out for interested parties? Maybe the producers are giving this buzz of 7 years to see the crowds reaction? Its a long ways away yet and besides there is still plenty of money to be made for the series so I say anything is game at this point and come on ... the whole shark thing is rediculous. I think any bit of creativity and you can take a show like Smallville into the next century if you want. They bring people from hte dead and make time go in reverse. Look at Friends and how great that was even at the end! AWESOME! I predict 10 years just the same for Smallville - easy!

Just recently, the producers have been saying "two more seasons" making the total 8 seasons in all. At this point, I am pretty much really looking forward to the last 5 or some episodes, but could care less about the rest of what is to come before that.
