Let ‘The Incredible Hulk’ Buzz Begin!

hulk2 thumb Let The Incredible Hulk Buzz Begin!I’ve mentioned previously that there’s been a surprising lack of news regarding the upcoming reboot of The Incredible Hulk. There have been a couple of photos released and the artwork you see on the left… but the biggest rumor so far hasn’t even been specific to the Hulk movie – it’s that Iron Man might appear in the film in the guise of Tony Stark.

Today we have confirmation that bit of news is indeed true from William Hurt, who plays General Ross in The Incredible Hulk:

“I have a scene with Iron Man, with Robert Downey Jr. It’s a funky scene. I don’t know how it’ll work, I know it’s weird [to work with a character from another movie], and to know it’s a device. We did something; I don’t know what that’s going to be like [to watch].”

He also goes on to talk about how the tone of this version will differ significantly from Ang Lee’s version of The Hulk:

“I saw that film. This is, stylistically, a completely different film. They just don’t relate… [Banner's] conscience still exists in a body that is a manifestation of power and is greater than his own ability to control it – and how he’s learning that relationship… society’s relationship with Hulk stops being so stupid.”

So in this version it seems the Hulk will be much more heroic and less of the “hunted and despised by society” type of character. I think that will certainly translate into a more appealing movie and more box office dollars. People love to cheer for a hero in a film more than they like to feel sorry for a tragic character – especially if that character is a superhero.

I’ve never been a huge fan of The Hulk in the comics but I’m looking forward to this movie.

  1. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    :-D

This is freakin’ AWESOME!! I can’t wait!!!

Hopefully more comic films will take a hint and do something like this! :-D

  2. This makes me more excited about the Hulk movie.

*Starts Chanting* Hulkbuster! Hulkbuster! Hulkbuster! XD

  3. Ooooh. Hulkbuster. Now THAT would be freaking cool to see on the big screen.

    Vic

  4. If Ironman is in this film then I’m deffinitly there opening day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. It would be cooler if Stark confronted Hulk this time around in his normal armor. I hope the Hulkbuster only shows up NEXT TIME, after Stark gets trashed this time around and learning that his Iron Man armor is woefully inadequate against The Hulk.

Hopefully we get to see how Iron Man puts up a valiant fight against The Hulk, using all weapons in its arsenal but eventually getting pummeled because it ran out of power.

That would serve as a motivation for Stark to further refine his present armor and develop a more advanced armor for the next Iron Man and Hulk movies.

  6. Guys,

Before you get TOO excited – remember, it’s Tony Stark who puts in an appearance, NOT Iron Man (as far as I know).

    Vic

  7. Awww.. yeah. So Stark won’t show up as Iron Man? Maybe Stark Industries was engaged by the government or whoever to analyze The Hulk’s gamma radiation profile and to develop a weapon to nullify it. Or perhaps Stark Industries was involved in the creation of the Gamma Bomb that gave birth to The Hulk..

  8. That’s ok if they only show Stark as long as its Downey Jr. Let’s hope its not some cheesy video phone shot or a phone call.
    ^
This is great news to me, it shows that Downey Jr might have signed a long term deal to play Ironman and that’s a relief.

  9. MARVEL KNOW WHAT WE WANT!!
    SPIDERMAN WORKED
    SPIDERMAN 3 LOST THE MAGIC!
    HULK WAS BORING
THIS HULK COULD BE THE MOVIE WE ALL KNOW THE HULK IS CAPABLE OF AND SHOOT HIM RIGHT UP THERE WITH THE CLASSICS!!!
    KING KONG; SPIDER-MAN; SUPERMAN.

  10. John Hurt states in the interview that he shot a scene with RDJ, so I doubt it’s video or phone.

    Vic

  11. Great news!!! Thought this would be the direction Marvel would go. Fantastic. Tony Stark is probably dicuss a contract on building government Hulkbuster exosuits to fight the Hulk. Then in the Avenger movie, Stark will showcase the Ironman Hulkbuster armor IMHO.:)

  12. I JUST HOPE NOW THAT FILM MAKERS FINALY KNOW WHAT WORKS IN SUPERHERO MOVIES AND WHAT DOESN’T
