According to TMZ, NBC has just reached an agreement with Leno giving him an 11:35 – 12:35 time slot. They tell us sources told them that the new contract was needed to replace the one Leno signed giving him the 10pm slot. But within SECONDS of that news breaking, NBC officially denied any such thing.

  1. I hate you Jay Leno. Conan, take your show to another network that's worthwhile. But make NBC pay you the 40 million first lol. I really hope Hollywood rejects Leno's new show and refuses to participate on it. Face it Jay, your fans are dying off every day. Literally.

  2. Mandarr, you took the words right out of my mouth.

  3. I can't believe they're shafting Conan like this, I'm not a huge fan, but they owed him at least a year build on his audience. How stupid, Leno needs to let it go, this makes him look so tactless.

  4. Is it just me or is there a demon face sucking the peacock's ass with another face fading into the darkness on the right?

  5. I will support Conan with whatever he does. I hope he leaves though.

I will never watch the Jay Leno show though. This is crap. Quit pulling a Farve and do what Jerry did and when its over, KEEP IT OVER!

  6. I am a fan of both Conan and Leno. But if this is really happening, I will stick to Conan. It's kinda messed up if Leno does go back on that show. He gave it up and gave the torch to Conan. NBC.. thanks for screwing it all up. Only thing i will watch now is Chuck… TeamConan all the way

  7. He won't be showing up in my living room that's for damn sure. What a douche bag for even thinking about doing this to Conan, let alone going through with it.

  8. I hope Leno fails as badly at 11:35 as he did at 10. Conan is what I'll be watching when he returns (because you know he will). In the mean time, 11:35 I'll either be here on my computer or watching something from the DVR. Heck, I may just turn everything off and get a good nights rest in even (probably not though)

  9. NBC (Never Been Conscious, Nazis Beat Conan, Not Banking Conan) looks just like the guys on Wall Street with their arrogance and random but constant stupidity. Affiliated local news stations complained they weren't getting viewerships due to Leno's failed numbers. It's 11 o'clock you dorks!!!

  10. I have always watched Conan. ever since he started late night. I thought he was great. and when the news came that he would host the tonight show i was thrilled, and he has done a great job since taking over. but once again NBC shows us why their in 4th place, this is the dumbest thing they could do. Jay leno is such a @$$ H*le. He's gonna take over the tonight show again and in less than ten years when he decides to “retire” NBC will be screwed again.
whatever network Conan goes too i will follow

    ps leno sucks!

  11. the only reason i watched Leno's tonight show was bc i was already up waiting for late night w/ Conan. Jay should've just gracefully bowed out- or NBC should've tried to change up his 10pm show as the way the show was laid out and written was stupid- it wasn't funny at all. they could've tried to change up his show instead of screwing Conan like this. it would've been better leaving it with Conan and Jimmy Fallon.

  12. So lets see if I understand this…

Jay Leno steps down from hosting the Tonight Show at 11:30, a show primarily watched by old farts who watch a quick 30 minutes before going to bed, never sticking around for the whole thing. Conan uproots his family, his crew and staff, and the families of his crew and staff to relocate to LA to take over hosting the Tonight show, bringing with them a loyal fanbase that stayed up until 12:35 to watch him.

The network worries Leno would want to start a new show on a rival network and they're too cheap to come up with new primetime shows, so they give Leno a prime time talk show to ensure this doesn't happen. For the first time ever, Leno's regular audience get to see an entire hour-long show of the guy and they aren't impressed. This leaves Leno with bad ratings, which carry over into bad ratings for the local news outlets, which in turn gives Conan's Tonight show bad ratings.

To fix this, NBC gives the man faulted with causing these bad ratings his old job hosting the Tonight show back, something he held for 17 years. And Conan, the brilliant and youthful TV personality who considered landing the job of hosting what he considered to be an American institution an honor, is left out to dry.

No, I still don't understand this.

  13. You people are idiots. Conan sucks! The only reason they are moving Jay is because he drew too many fans from Conan causing his ratings to suck. Jay's ratings were good. Conan is the least funny of all the late night hosts. He needs to go away and quit taking up airwaves!

  14. To be fair Leno never gave it up he was forced out but his fans were so pissed that they gave him another show.

  15. Just like I couldn't think of a reason why people would tune in to watch Leno rehash himself at 10 pm, I equally can't think of a reason why people will tune in for half a show of him doing the same thing condensed. I mean, this whole thing is pointless, and he could have just taken the opportunity to move on instead of taking part in NBC's farce of a plan.

Now he'll be remembered as the egotist who cost another man his chance to do a good job by vainly trying to hold onto late night.

  16. That is an accurate point, HOWEVER, that doesn't really make what happened to Conan any less horrible. Conan gave NBC an ultimatum in 2004 when they struck the deal and said, “I will be on a show at 11:30, weather or not it is the Tonight Show is up to NBC.”

NBC didn't want to lose him to competition, so they gave him the Tonight show. Leno signed a contract to give it up. So maybe he was “forced out” because Conan played hardball, but he agreed to it. If NBC really valued Leno so much, they shouldn't have made the deal and let Conan go to another network.

Instead, they are getting hammered in the media, by Conan and Leno, AND Conan will STILL probably end up at another network. NBC are idiots. No wonder they are no. 4

  17. jay leno is doomed.. lol

he'll see.. his ratings are gone for good haha

  18. I like Jay Leno and I also like Conan so I have to say that my opinion really has no bias and I believe that was Jay is doing is RIDICULOUS. He should face the fact that he messed up. Yes, Conan's numbers aren't as good as Jay's BUT Conan appeals to the younger crowd which is what the goal should be. Jay's fanbase are dying out, lieterally and we need someone fresh and new for the people of today and I think that Conan has done a solid job thus far. He has not had even 6 months. I think that Jay is going to lose a lot of his audience and fanbase by doing this and ultimately at this point I think the best thing to do is for him come to terms with teh fact that he messed up and to take his millions and millions of dollars and retire.

  19. I feel sorry eveybody is turning their back on Leno like its his fault, NBC took that tonight show from him when he didnt want to leave and gave him his 10pm show to keep him happy so now since conan cant seam to attract even half the viewers that Jay did at 11:35 everybody is so surprised that they want him out. iIfyou all cared so much for conan (who i dont find funny)you would would tune in to his show and give him what really matters in this tv business which is RATINGS!! besides no network wants conan fox wont even take him 'cause of the ratings and im sure this has him worried thats why i hear he will sue. how sad conan take it like a man u failed at that 11:35 time slot NBC wants their show back dont fight it

  20. he's not showing up in my living room

  21. Bill Hicks pegged Jay Leno nearly 20 years ago…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0RfZfagyW8

  22. to be fair it took Leno awhile before he beat out Letterman. Conan hasn't had the same amount of time Leno recieved. if they gave conan a year or two he would be number one. he hasn't failed he just needs time

  23. Like elrey908 said, Leno didn't find ratings success until Hugh Grant showed up on his show shortly after Grant's prostitution scandal erupted.

Any time you get a new host, it takes time for that host to attract an audience. It's hypocritical for Leno to point to Conan's ratings when he himself benefited from a much longer grace period than Conan has yet had, by a long shot. Had NBC taking that stance when Leno had only been in the seat for 7 months, he'd be a footnote in Tonight Show history today. Leno's refusal to even acknowledge this fact makes him seem blindly obnoxious and unwilling to acknowledge his own history.

  25. NOT a fan of Conan at all. I just don't think he's funny at all (he was years ago, though). I used to like Jay when he was on the Tonight Show, but his prime time show is complete garbage. NBC tried to be a bunch of cheap SOB's and not create any original programming and it's bitten them in the butt. I don't blame Conan for being pissed and taking it out on NBC. The funny thing is, the one guy who is more talented than all of them put together will inherit Late Night from Dave when he retires: Craig Ferguson. That guy is AWESOME.
