The Lego Universe has over produced over 4000 different minifigures since 1975 (300 in 2012 alone) and close to a hundred will make their big screen debut in The Lego Movie.  We’ve searched multiple sources to compile the most comprehensive character guide we could and came up with 79 minifigure characters for you to look for while watching the movie.

Because there are so many, we’ve divided them into groups and when possible, we’ve provided a description of each character as well:

A lot of characters can be briefly seen in The Lego Movie trailers and TV spots – so be sure to check those out.

Emmet Chris Pratt The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Every day, Emmet goes to work exactly by the steps in the instructions booklet that he always keeps in his hand. As part of Bricksburg’s busy construction crew, he helps to rebuild the city as briefed by President Business. Emmet wants to be popular, but he struggles to stand out in the crowd. Even his fellow construction workers hardly know he’s there. But all of that is about to change, thanks to a mysterious stranger and a legendary Prophecy about the most special minifigure in the entire world!

Wyldstyle

The Lego Movie Wyldstyle The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

A streetwise and free-spirited Master Builder who loves pushing boundaries and being creative. She has a strong, independent streak that makes her question when things are wrong. Batman

The Lego Movie Batman The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Stop his foes from getting their claws on some Kryptonite and keep the city safe!

The Flash

The Lego Movie The Flash The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Barry Allen was known for being slow and easy-going. While a senior in college he helped the police apprehend a criminal at a bank robbery, he was offered a job as a police scientist in Central City. One night, during an electrical storm Barry was working on an experiment when a lightning bolt zapped a cabinet of chemicals, and the electrified chemicals bathed him. Through several events that night and the next day, including running past a taxi, catching items a waitress dropped, and saving Iris West from a bullet, Barry discovered that he had gained super speed.

Vitruvius

The Lego Movie Vitruvius The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

An ancient and heroic wizard who prophesizes that a “Special” will defeat Lord Business and become the greatest LEGO Master Builder of all. He tries to teach Emmet that the key to true building is to believe in yourself and follow your own set of instructions inside your head.

Uni-Kitty

The Lego Movie Uni Kitty 570x171 The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Hailing from Cloud Cuckoo Land, the capital of rainbows and puppies, she is half unicorn, half animé kitten and one endless dance party. She is happy to join her fellow LEGO Master Builders in the quest to defeat Lord Business, but she also has a powerful secret.

She is a master of disguise. When needed, she dresses up as Biznis Kitty. When Robo SWATs invade her home, she loses control of her positive thoughts and becomes Angry Kitty. Presumably, when she goes aboard Metalbeard’s Ship ship she becomes Queasy Kitty, and when aboard Benny’s Spaceship she becomes Astro Kitty.

Abraham Lincoln

The Lego Movie Abraham Lincoln The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Nicknamed “Honest Abe” because he never borrows anybody’s bricks without giving them back, Abraham Lincoln lives in a log cabin that he built all by himself, in the middle of a forest that he built all by himself, then cut down, and then rebuilt all by himself again.

Abraham Lincoln is full of good and fair advice, so his fellow Master Builders often ask him to settle arguments over who gets to build what. He would probably make a great leader, but President Business’s Octan Corporation makes all of the voting machines!

Marsha Queen of the Mermaids

The Lego Movie Marsha Queen of the Mermaids The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

You don’t need to have legs to be a Master Builder! With the help of her creative imagination, the Mermaid Queen has assembled an entire underwater realm for herself and her mermaid pals. Brick by brick, she builds colorful coral reefs, fields of waving seaweed, and an almost endless variety of fish and other sea life.

But not even the deep brick sea is safe from Lord Business’s wicked plan. Now she is in hiding like her fellow Master Builders, waiting for the signal to gather and unite behind the prophesied hero known only as the Special!

Panda Guy

The Lego Movie Panda Guy The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Most believe the Panda Guy to be a simple mascot in a panda bear costume. But in times of trouble, he reveals himself as an undercover Master Builder who has sworn to free the citizens of Bricksburg from the shackles of instructions-based rules and conformity.

The Panda Guy is determined to foil Lord Business’s evil plots, although he has never succeeded so far. In his attempts to break into the Octan office tower, he hasn’t yet made it past the laser gates, let alone the sharks and the laser-sharks. Maybe the long-awaited Special will finally be the answer to completing his mission!

William Shakespeare

The Lego Movie William Shakespeare The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

The celebrated wordsmith William Shakespeare is also a celebrated Master Builder, constructing brick creations with the same wit and grace with which he composes epic sonnets and speeches for his plays.

When Emmet addresses the gathered Master Builders at their secret meeting place in Cloud Cuckoo Land, everyone expects him to give a brilliant and rousing speech. But when Emmet’s words fail to inspire, Shakespeare is the first to express his disdain!

Michelangelo (Turtle)

The Lego Movie Michelangelo Turtle The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Michelangelo was formerly, along with his three, older brothers, a normal turtle, who was bought in a pet store by Splinter, when he was a human named Hamato Yoshi. Yoshi then saw many strange men (The Kraang) meeting. Those men carried a mutegen and when confronted by Yoshi, it was dropped onto the turtles spilled cage and Yoshi. The mutagen mutated Michelangelo and his three brothers into larger, more intelligent mutants, while turning Splinter into a giant rat. He then hid out in the sewers for 15 years, until the four turtles persuaded Splinter to let them go up to the surface. He is the one who loves to party and goof off and is one of the Master Builders of the LEGO world.

President Business

The Lego Movie President Business The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

President Business, an uptight CEO and the president of the massive Octan Corporation (and the entire world) who has a hard time balancing world domination with micro-managing his own life. He operates a successful business front that creates music, TV shows, surveillance systems, history books and voting machines, in addition to all dairy products and coffee. Secretly, he is Lord Business, the most evil of tyrants who oversees a robot militia and attempts to take over the LEGO universe.

Bad Cop/Good Cop

The Lego Movie Good Cop Bad Cop The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Lord Business’s #1 henchman, whose loyalty is tested when he is forced to turn on his own parents. Bad Cop may be a mean and ruthless bully, but he has a Good Cop half too – or at least he did until Lord Business used a powerful relic to erase his nice side’s face and keep his henchman’s conscience from getting in the way of his evil plans.

Green Ninja

The Lego Movie Lloyd Garmadon Green Ninja The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

As the only son of Lord Garmadon, an evil Master Builder and future dark ruler, Lloyd has some big shoes to fill. It’s not easy being bad, and he works tirelessly to become the super villain he is destined to be. He is also a Master Builder

Lloyd ran away from the Boarding School for Bad Boys (Or maybe he was, in fact, kicked out because lacked the morale and ambition to become the next great villain master mind of tomorrow?), and he searches high and especially low for henchmen who will help him live up to his reputation and his dad’s expectations. But sometimes even the toughest bad guy’s only option is to retreeeeaaaat!

El Macho Wrestler

The Lego Movie El Macho Wrestler The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

El Macho is an evil Master Builder, Lord Businessman’s henchman and a wrestler.

Robot Fed

The Lego Movie Robot Fed The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

These business-suited robots serve a double-duty: as tireless office drones in the Office Tower building, and as President Business’s information-gathering secret service. In both jobs, they constantly process, analyze and catalog data, looking for trends that will help their boss in his evil plans. You never know when the latest TV viewership ratings or the most popular song on the radio will prove to be the key to world domination!

Calamity Drone

The Lego Movie Calamity Drone The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

She may look just like a beautiful Wild West can-can dancer, but Calamity Drone is one tough and dangerous robot. Whether she’s wielding an old-fashioned rifle or a new-fangled flamethrower, her itchy trigger finger makes her tend to blast first and ask questions later.

Calamity has been waiting a long time for some Master Builders to show up in her saloon so that she can fulfill her prime directive and capture them for Lord Business. Little does she realize that the most-wanted Master Builder of them all has been right under her nonexistent nose the whole time!

Wiley Fusebot

The Lego Movie Wiley Fusebot The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Not every robot can represent the height of modern technology. Stationed in the Wild West in the guise of a scruffy gold prospector, Wiley Fusebot is rusty, broken-down, and almost totally unhinged.

As one of Lord Business’s gang of metal spies under the command of Sheriff Not-A-Robot, Wiley’s unpredictable programming makes him almost as explosive as the bundle of dynamite that he carries…and even more short-fused!

Frank the Foreman

The Lego Movie Frank the Foreman The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

A veteran of years of building, and the minifigure in charge of the Bricksburg construction crew. Frank knows how important it is to follow the rules and make new buildings exactly according to the instructions. But as a good boss, he also knows that his workers need to have fun, so he doesn’t mind if they sing while they build, or chat about the latest episode of “Where Are My Pants?”, as long as they get the job done on time.

Gail the Construction Worker

The Lego Movie Gail the Contruction Worker The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Each member of the Bricksburg construction crew has his or her own special way of standing out. Everybody knows Gail: she’s the perky one! No matter how hard the day’s work may be, you can always count on her to stay cheerful while she builds and sings along to the Everything is Awesome song.

But as perky as Gail is, even she has never really noticed Emmet among her fellow construction workers. As far as she knows, he’s just another smiling yellow face in the crowd. Maybe if he does something really important, then she’ll finally remember his name!

Larry the Barista

The Lego Movie Larry the Barista The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Some baristas have practiced for years to prepare their own magnificent blend of coffee, but not Larry! Like the other citizens of Bricksburg, he does everything by the rules, and that means that each cup is brewed and served in exactly the same way: precisely by the instructions.

Larry is famous for making the most average – and expensive – coffee in the city, which is just the way the citizens of Bricksburg like it. That’s because buying overpriced coffee on the way to work every morning is in the instructions, too!

“Where are My Pants?” Guy

The Lego Movie Wheres My Pants Guy The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

The “Where Are My Pants?” Guy is the star of the #1 hit television show “Where Are My Pants?”, written, filmed, and broadcast by the Octan Studios subsidiary of President Business’s personal mega-corporation.

Every night, the citizens of Bricksburg tune in to watch the show and laugh at the crazy situations that this pantsless fellow finds himself in, and every morning, they all gather at their office water coolers to chat about their favorite moments from the latest episode. Little do they know that the show is slowly sapping their creativity and imagination – just like President Business wants!

Velma Staplebot

The Lego Movie Velma Staplebot The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

The overbearing personal assistant to President Business, Velma Staplebot is responsible for keeping her boss’ schedule precisely in order, cancelling inconvenient appointments, and keeping pirates and other unauthorized visitors out of his office at the top of the Octan Tower.

But the mechanical Ms. Staplebot is no simple assistant. As one of President Business’s most loyal and trusted staff members, she is also one of the few (okay, maybe not so few) who knows his greatest secret: that he is really the evil Lord Business, out to control all the realms of the LEGO world!

Taco Tuesday Man

The Lego Movie Taco Tuesday Guy The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

The Taco Tuesday Man makes the tastiest tacos in town. They’re the most irresistible treat in all of Bricksburg, and people come from far and wide just to take a bite of their mouth-watering crunchy, zesty goodness.

Even President Business is a big fan. That’s why he’s declared a city-wide Taco Tuesday when every rule-following citizen will gather outside to get a free taco. The Taco Tuesday Man sure is glad people like his tacos so much, and that it isn’t all part of some secret evil scheme to control the entire world!

Ma Cop

The Lego Movie Ma Cop The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Bad Cop’s parents are a pair of simple, honest country police officers. There isn’t a lot of law-breaking in the towns, farms and villages outside of Bricksburg, but all of their neighbors consider them to be good and cherished pillars of the local community. Ma and Pa Cop are both very proud of their son’s work in the big city, although sometimes they worry about whether he listens enough to his good side.

Pa Cop

Circus Clown

The Lego Movie Circus Clown The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Everything in life is a joke to the mirthful, merry and mischievous Circus Clown. Whenever things get too dull, up he pops with a banana cream pie to toss, a bottle of seltzer to spray, or a honk of his horn to brighten your day. You can always count on him to appear with a funny gag at just the right moment to lighten the mood.

The Circus Clown is a master of physical comedy, and it’s a good thing, too – aside from a honk of his horn or his big red nose, he never makes a sound, even when doubled-over with laughter at his own silly antics!

Sudds Backwash

The Lego Movie Sudds Backwash The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

The bartender at the Wild West’s best, worst, and only saloon. Sudds is used to a rowdy clientele and is always ready to duck behind the bar when the next cowboy brawl breaks out and bottles start flying. But when the call goes out to save the world, he is one of the first in line to fight for freedom and creativity, rebuilding his beloved saloon into a high-flying airplane to battle Micro Managers in a daring dogfight high in the skies above Bricksburg.

Mrs. Scratchen-Post

The Lego Movie Mrs Scratchen Post The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Emmet’s neighbor Mrs. Scratchen-Post takes her cats with her wherever she goes. She has so many that she can hardly keep track of them all, though that doesn’t stop her from covering all of her belongings with kitty-themed pictures and decorations.

Even though Emmet knows each and every one of her cats by name, from Jasmine to Bad Leroy to Fluffy, Fluffy Jr. and Fluffy Sr., Mrs. Scratchen-Post barely pays attention to him. After all, he doesn’t even have a tail or whiskers!

Deep Sea Diver

The Lego Movie Deep Sea Diver The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

The Deep Sea Diver seems like a nice enough fellow, but no one can tell for sure, because no one can understand what he’s saying. Whenever he speaks, all that comes out is burbles and bubbles. He might be easier to understand if he ever took off his diving mask and air tank, but he thinks that he can’t breathe without them and always keeps them on, even when he’s walking around on land – which is a pretty funny sight, thanks to those big flippers on his feet!

Eygptian Queen

The Lego Movie Egyptain Queen The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

The Egyptian Queen is used to the finer things in life, but don’t think for a moment that it’s made her soft! She may have a golden throne, banquets five times a day and legions of loyal servants to obey her every command, but she also knows all about tax codes, crop rotation and pyramid construction regulations, not to mention the ancient game of politics.

Forestman

The Lego Movie Forestman The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

The brave and fearless Forestman is always arriving just in the nick of time to save the day. Whether he’s swinging down on a vine to rescue a damsel in distress, leaping boldly from the castle battlements to duel an evil duke, or making an incredible trick shot with his bow and arrow to help a friend in danger, he is at all times the very model of a chivalrous hero of legend and yore. He loves to make a good first impression and is always practicing his dramatic entrances to get them just right.

Together they discover many treasures and outwit many varied villains. Demolition Dummy

The Lego Movie Demolition Dummy The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

The Demolition Dummy exists to take things apart. He is compelled to disassemble everything that he comes across into its component parts, leaving piles of pieces behind wherever he goes. Although he doesn’t seem to be very bright or creative, he is extremely persistent, and it’s difficult to stop him once he starts trying to deconstruct something. No matter what anyone else does, he always seems to find a way to accomplish his task.

Policeman

The Lego Movie Policeman The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Punk Rocker

The Lego Movie Punk Rocker The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Surgeon

The Lego Movie Surgeon The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Nothing distracts the ever-serious Surgeon when she’s performing an important operation. She works with a level head and a steady hand despite any rock monster rumblings, dinosaur attacks or invasions by brain-sucking aliens that may be going on around her.

Tribal Chief

The Lego Movie Tribal Chief The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

The Tribal Chief lives for adventure. If there’s a mountain, he’ll climb it. If there’s a river, he’ll swim it. If there’s a desert, he’ll pack his bags and cross it, just because he can. All he needs is the great outdoors and an exciting challenge, and he’ll be right there, daring it all and trying to get everyone he knows to join in on the fun.

Statue of Liberty

The Lego Movie Statue of Liberty The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Lady Liberty is a symbol of creative freedom to all Minifigures, no matter their theme of origin. Holding her torch up high – and sometimes waving it around when she gets really excited – she is a beacon of inspiration to all who see her.

She protects against oppression of all kinds. Villains and tyrants may try to topple her, but she always stands tall (well, as tall as any Minifigure, anyway), stirring the hearts of patriotic citizens everywhere to build bigger and grander brick creations than ever before.

Mummy

The Lego Movie Mummy The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

The Mummy’s favorite thing to do is put ancient mummy curses on people. He just loves it when you wake up with slimy frogs in your bed, or suddenly find your shoelaces tied together, or have your toast always fall on the floor with the butter-side down.

But the Mummy doesn’t really mean any harm, and he’d be surprised if he ever found out that people thought he was being mean to them. As far as he knows, putting curses on people is just what mummies are supposed to do!

Magician

The Lego Movie Magician The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Appearing out of nowhere with a flourish of his cape and a twirl of his elegant, curly mustache, the mysterious Magician is the ultimate in stylish showmanship. He loves a good audience to appreciate his incredible and sense-defying magic tricks, but watch out – not only is he an amazing performer, but he’s also a talented prankster as well! He’ll confuse, bewilder and amaze with a mix of sleight-of-hand and impossible feats, and the more surprised his audience is, the better.

Artist

The Lego Movie Artist The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Everything the Artist sees inspires him to paint. The sunset, the sky, the bugs, passing airplanes…each one gives him the idea for a truly magnificent work of art, and he is consumed with painting them until he is done.

Since he doesn’t carry a canvas with him everywhere he goes, though, this leads to him painting on whatever surface happens to be handy. He paints on walls, rocks, trees and anything else he can find. You’d think it might get him in trouble, but his artistic creations are so spectacular that no one ever seems to mind!

Surfer

The Lego Movie Surfer The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

Wherever the waves are radical and the surf is bodacious, that’s where you’ll find the Surfer. He’s the most relaxed guy around, but as soon as it’s time to hop on his surfboard, nothing can keep him from hanging ten from sunrise until sunset!

The Surfer has traveled all over the world and surfed at every beach he can find. No matter where he goes, he’s always sure to find a fun challenge on the rolling, splashing ocean!

Vampire

The Lego Movie Vampire The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

The Vampire may be a 200-year-old creature of nightmare and legend, but that doesn’t mean that he has to be uncivilized. He likes to read comic books with his pet bat, take long walks by the seaside (after sunset, of course), and throw huge parties in his big stone castle.

Lizard Man

The Lego Movie Lizard Man The Lego Movie Complete Character Guide

The Lizard Man lives to trample cities beneath his big green feet. Of course, since he’s really just a minifigure of normal size wearing a lizard suit, that’s not as easy as it sounds…so instead, he spends hours building his own meticulously detailed miniature buildings and then stomping all over them while making roaring noises.
