This fall The CW will be home to four DC Comics properties: Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl. All four shows, produced by Greg Berlanti, are looking to embark on their biggest seasons yet. The Flash is set to adapt the hugely popular “Flashpoint” story arc, while Supergirl will be introducing the Man of Steel (played by Tyler Hoechlin), and Arrow will feature Mr. Terrific, Artemis, and the mysterious villainous archer, Prometheus. Not to be outdone, Legends of Tomorrow is also looking to step up its game after an up and down first season. New characters set to appear on the show include Stargirl, Commander Steel, and more.
The first season of Legends of Tomorrow was praised for its action sequences, visuals, and ensemble cast, but the big bad, Vandal Savage, only received mixed reviews, and many complained of dragging storylines and unnecessary one-off episodes. We will see whether some of these concerns are addressed in the second season, but what is known for certain is that the scope of the series is going to be bigger than it was in season 1.
Legend of Tomorrow‘s first season ended with a Justice Society of America tease, in the form of the appearance of Rex Tyler/Hourman (Suits star Patrick J. Adams). It was later confirmed that the Justice Society of America will indeed play a prominent role in the second season, but that’s not all. It was also revealed that the series first ever supervillain team would be none other than the Legion of Doom, featuring members, Captain Cold, Damien Darhk, Reverse-Flash, and Malcolm Merlyn. And now, we have a look at two of those members.
Matt Letscher, who plays Reverse-Flash on The Flash, recently revealed a set photo on Instagram featuring himself and Neal McDonough, who plays Damien Darhk. You can check out the photo, below:
The image shows Letscher dressed in a slick leather jacket – and, he is wearing his ring, which presumably contains his Reverse-Flash suit. If you recall, in season 1 of The Flash, Eobard Thawne (at this point played by Tom Cavanagh) used the same ring to quickly “suit up.” McDonough, on the other hand, is dressed in a Miami Vice looking blue suit, which suggests this photo may be teasing the Legion of Doom in the 1980s. The duo also look to be riding in style, with a sharp red sports car behind them.
All in all, the image does not reveal much, but it is still cool to see two members of The Legion of Doom. McDonough, in particular, has been one of the best performers in the Arrowverse thus far, and it will be interesting to see his take on Damien Darhk in the time-traveling series. Letscher is also set to feature more prominently this season in both The Flash as well as Legends of Tomorrow. In The Flash, he is set to play Reverse-Flash during some of the “Flashpoint” timeline, as we have seen him held captive by Barry Allen, and even giving the timeline its name.
No matter what you thought about Legends of Tomorrow season 1, anticipation is high for the sophomore outing, and seeing the Justice Society of America and the Legion of Doom in action will be exciting indeed.
The Flash season 3 will premiere Tuesday October 4th at 8pm on The CW, Arrow season 5 will premiere in the same timeslot on Wednesday October 5th, Supergirl season 2 on Monday October 10th, and Legends of Tomorrow season 2 on Thursday October 13th.
