While Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl have all demonstrated they’re more than willing to regularly pull from the comics for their various plots and characters, Legends of Tomorrow‘s very format means they can introduce some of DC’s zanier concepts. From outrunning dinosaurs and fighting Confederate zombies to facing the Black Flash, the Legends have jumped all over time and space in an effort to save the universe from fantastical threats. In a few weeks, they’ll go on their most bizarre adventure yet as they adapt the Camelot 3000 miniseries.
The story involves evil sorcerer Morgan le Fay transporting King Arthur and his companions to the future where an alien invasion is underway. By blending a fictional medieval world of swords and sorcery with the far future and aliens, Legends will be entering some vastly uncharted waters. There’s no word yet on how much of the comic will be brought to life on screen, but we know the Legends won’t be alone in their journey to the futuristic Camelot.
Thanks to The CW, we’ve got the description for the February 21st episode of Legends titled “Camelot/3000”, which will feature cameos from a couple of the Justice Society of America members. Read on for the details:
The Legends continue their quest to hunt down the Spear of Destiny before the pieces fall into the hands of the Legion of Doom. The Legends discover that pieces of the Spear are each being guarded in different time periods by members of the JSA. Their first stop is the future where they find Dr. Mid-Nite (guest star Kwesi Ameyaw) which eventually leads them to the past and King Arthur’s Camelot, where Stargirl (guest star Sarah Grey) is protecting her piece of the Spear. In order to protect the Spear shard from the now-evil Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), the Legends must join forces with the Knights of the Round Table.
Caity Lotz, Franz Drameh, Victor Garber, Brandon Routh, Dominic Purcell, Nick Zano and Maisie Richardson-Sellers also star. Antonio Negret directed the episode written by Anderson MacKenzie.
From the description of the episode, it could be that le Fay is replaced with the evil Rip and the Legion of Doom and they alone are the threat the Legends face. It could even be the Legends who take the Knights of the Roundtable to the future in their mutual pursuit of the Spear of Destiny. Either way, it’s exciting that we’ll be seeing the return of the JSA.
Though the whole JSA team was introduced in the second episode of season two of Legends, we’ve so far only spent time with Vixen and Obsidian. It looks as if the rest of the season will feature cameos from various other members of the JSA, starting with Stargirl and Dr. Mid-Nite showing up in “Camelot/3000”. Hopefully, we’ll get at least one more episode featuring the whole team before the season ends, especially as the mystery surrounding Rex Tyler is still unresolved. Either way, this year on Legends looks to be plenty exciting.
Legends of Tomorrow continues with “Turncoat: on Tuesday, February 7th at 9 p.m. on The CW.
