It’s no secret to our regular Screen Rant readers that I truly enjoy a cheesy B-movie. If a movie has been shown on SyFy, only came out on DVD or was distributed by The Asylum then chances are I have either watched it or own it. Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus, Sharkoctopus, Anaconda 4: The Blood Orchid (yes they made a 4th film) – I’ve had the pleasure of watching them all.
That is why I was super-excited when I came across the trailer for Lake Placid 3 the other day and just had to share it with my fellow B-movie lovers (I know you’re out there.) The first Lake Placid was a fantastic horror comedy starring the Oliver Platt and Betty White; it was immediately obvious to any B-movie fan that this franchise was ripe for lackluster cheesy sequels – and we haven’t been disappointed yet.
Here is the Lake Placid 3 synopsis sent to us by Sony Pictures Entertainment:
Get ready for a living, feeding nightmare when a swarm of gigantic crocodiles terrorizes a secluded country lake. When local wildlife is brutally mauled and campers are reduced to carcasses, biologist Nathan Bickerman (Colin Ferguson) knows a voracious predator is on the loose. So does a feisty female hunting guide (Yancy Butler) out for her next trophy. As the body count rises, the local sheriff tries to keep things quiet and keep the tourists coming. But when the horrifying, hulking truth emerges, can anyone stop these cold blooded killers before they claim their next victim? Lake Placid 3 is pulse pounding, adrenaline pumping, pure horror film fun. The film contains graphic violence and full frontal nudity.
Sounds interesting right? Yeah, I’m not too interested in the story either but I’m hoping there are more cheesy, CGI blood-splattered kills than the all 3 Carnosaur films combined. As with any B-movie, audiences always expect to see some sort of nudity; it’s almost required by contract to be in there. That’s why I find it odd that the press release boasts about “full frontal nudity.” I Wonder why they didn’t also advertise cheesy acting and laughable death scenes?
We have two trailers for you today – the SFW green band trailer and the NSFW red bad trailer. Watch them below:
The Red Band Trailer contains nudity and you can watch it HERE.
Colin Ferguson (Eureka), Yancy Butler (Kickass), Kacey Barnfield (Resident Evil: Afterlife), and Michael Ironside (Terminator Salvation) all earn paychecks starring in the campy, blood-thirsty horror film Lake Placid 3. I’m a big fan of Ferguson and is there anybody that doesn’t love watching Michael Ironside on screen?
Lake Placid 3 snaps it’s jaws on DVD shelves October 27th, 2010.

i saw this on syfy when it was premeried lol. there was nothing else on.Ironside needs to get back into more films, stillcant believe he did this one and the next karate kid way back in the day haha
what does the average budget of these syfy flicks usually run anyways???
I’m thinking 40 bucks.
Haha this is like laughable.
This was pretty awful when I saw it on SyFy. I just hope that the DVD has the nudity that was obviously edited out for TV. Then I might have to watch it again.
As far as the SFx go, they were pretty bad. Like OBVIOUS bad. I enjoyed the first Lake Placid movie (“he used to be taller” LOL), but this one was ruined by the SFx. Can’t wait for Lake Placid 4, though!
The first Lake Placid is one of my all time favorites.
If you watch the red band trailer you’ll see plenty of nudity and the press release made sure to point out there was full frontal nudity…assuming we won’t be looking at man junk.
I really cant wait for them to release MEGA PYTHON VS. GATOROID next year.
At least this fits SyFy better than wrestling, for crying out loud.
Vic
Amen to that Vic. I still can’t understand why that garbage is on SyFy. SPIKE, yes, SyFy, no.
As the last wrestling fan over the age of 12, I think wrestling is fine on SyFy. With their name change, it seemed like they were going to try to go in different directions and didn’t want to be bogged down with a name that defined what they could show. Wrestling is an easy ratings boost, and it only takes up 2 hours a week. And I would take it over Dracula: The Series and Dark Shadows re-runs any damn day of the week.
Gotta disagree. Wrestling is just too damn ridiculous. I stopped watching it when I was 12 when I realized that they were all a bunch of roided up bad actors. I don’t know how anyone can take that stuff seriously. Give me a Star Trek rerun or a Godzilla movie over that garbage any day of the week. I’d even take old episodes of Lost in Space!!
The crappy Godzilla films are 10 times better then stuff on other channels let alone just SyFy
But the good ones would are classics and should never be mentioned with garbage, meant to put that on the message above
umm wrasslin has no place on SyFy LOL.
What we really need is a sequel to Rogue…which had better FX, suspense and a pre-Avatar Sam Worthington on the monster croc’s menu.
Still…I might watch Lake Placid 3 if only to see Yancy Butler, the onetime Witchblade.
And yet Freddy vs Jason vs Ash languishes in a draw somewhere in Hollywood.
Wow that was so laughable i laughed. ha.
Wow, crocodiles in the supermarket. Finaly a reason to take the kids shopping.
ROFL, now that’s wrong
Paul do you have release date for:
Dinocroc vs SuperGator? Hell just any crappy B movie on SyFy Channel that is on or going to be on dvd soon will be appreciated.
ROFL Sharktopuss?, Really. LoLs. Sometimes I kick myself for missing out on all the wth is this cheese fest every saturday on SyFy.
I cant beleive you people are taking this seriously.
the whole point of these movies are to jus themt laugh at
There was a Lake Placid 2???!!???!
Why yes there was.
Lake Placid 3 was so the normal SYFY original movie it was entertaining. I always love watching complete crap! I really do.
I never get that type of movies.. If I was directing at a low budget movie I’d atleast get some decent acting on the actors! Dont the directors care about their rep?? LOL!
