The Twilight Saga is nearing its end and its stars will scatter throughout the industry, expanding their careers with other projects, some already having been attached to upcoming major projects. What will Kristen Stewart do once her career-defining role as Bella sees its end next year? Will she spend her time making more low-key indie flicks? Will she partake in other big budget mainstream blockbusters and potential franchises?

This has been a common subject this week with Stewart making plenty of headlines as her name tosses around and between two upcoming major films. On one side, she’s tested for the title role of Snow White in Snow White and the Huntsman and on the other, she’s rumored to have read for the part of Lois Lane in Superman: Man of Steel.

[Update: Viggo Mortensen has dropped out of negotiations with Universal and will not be in Snow White and the Huntsman.]

With Henry Cavill being cast as Clark Kent in the Superman film franchise reboot on the weekend, rumors and reports about the short list of talent testing for the lead female role in the film have been running rampant. Yesterday we reported on two confirmed actresses in contention, Rachel McAdams and Olivia Wilde, but Kristen Stewart is also rumored to have tested for the part and turned it down.

It’s a bit of a sticky issue at the moment with the NY Daily News claiming to have insiders close to director Zack Snyder and Kristen Stewart who report that Snyder was interested in Stewart – although hadn’t put out an offer yet – but Stewart didn’t read for the part because she was weary of jumping into the limelight again in another multi-picture major role. People’s people claim that there’s no truth to any of the rumors and that Stewart was never even approached for the role. What does this all mean? Nothing. It’s Hollywood and she’s got another gig instead. Moving along…

So, while Stewart won’t work for the Daily Planet, she will play Snow White opposite everyone’s favorite Viggo Mortensen. Last week we reported that Stewart was a candidate for the role in the alternate take on the Brothers Grimm classic fairy tale, Snow White and the Huntsman, and now THR’s Heat Vision blog has the scoop that she’s the chosen one and that they’ve moved into the negotiations stage with Universal Pictures.

Can you picture Kristen Stewart playing Snow White or Lois Lane?

Superman: Man of Steel is targeting a December 2012 release date and is still trying to find its Lois Lane.
