With one week of production completed on Knock at the Cabin, director M. Night Shyamalan reflected on how it has already left him shaken. The project from the Oscar-nominated director will be his fifteenth and set to be released on February 3rd, 2023 from Universal Pictures. Shyamalan's filmography is known for its thrilling stories leading to major twists and it already appears that Knock at the Cabin will be no exception, according to the director.

Knock at the Cabin is one of Shyamalan's many projects that have been keeping him busy in recent years. In 2019, Shyamalan signed a new deal with Universal Pictures to release two new original features, the first being last summer's Old. The plot details of Knock at the Cabin are still currently under wraps, but it is speculated to be a horror film with a cabin-in-the-woods vibe. Whatever the film ends up being about, the fact that Shyamalan himself is feeling the affects of filming must say a lot about how the final product will turn out.

Shyamalan posted a photo on his Instagram account of him announcing the completion of the first week of filming Knock at the Cabin. The photo is of Shyamalan in a mask with a cup of coffee, presumably on the set of the film. While it is the farthest from a traditional behind-the-scenes photo, the caption details Shyamalan's hopefulness for audiences enjoying the film and hoping it will leave him as "shook" as it did him. Shyamalan is known for bringing in big names for his projects, a trademark that started with Bruce Willis in 1999's The Sixth Sense, his signature feature. Knock at the Cabin is sporting a major cast featuring Dave Bautista, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Jonathan Groff, Ben Aldridge, and Rupert Grint, who also stars in the Shyamalan-executive produced Servant from Apple TV+. Like the plot, no details of their characters have been given, but Shyamalan's Instagram post saying that the performances have been so "intricate" during the first week of filming says a lot with so little.

If Shyamalan had to step away from the set to collect himself, then maybe Knock at the Cabin could be his most intense film yet. He has certainly had a divisive career as a filmmaker with many criticizing his writing style and the way he directs actors. Right now, Shyamalan is enjoying something of a comeback especially after working with Universal for the last few years. However Knock at the Cabin turns out with both critics and audiences, it's sure to be an emotional ride for some.
