Yeah, TV series are different from movies in that a movie has one shot at being good or not – an ongoing series sometimes takes a few episodes to find its “legs.”

Thank you Vic. Having read your review I was surprised at this. You beat the show up pretty good, but you are at least williing to give it a few episodes to build character and see where it goes.

Hey, more power to ya, bro.

I’ll tell you what though – I have tried to revisit some old TV shows I loved from the 80s and watching them NOW I can’t even sit through them. I tried renting “The Greatest American Hero” which I used to really enjoy, but wasn’t able to get through more than 1 1/2 episodes of it.

Some TV shows are best left in the past, where our fond memories color them as being better than they actually were.

Hey, humphry, if you want to prepay for the 8 season DVD sets, I’ll buy you every season that gets released, I’ll gladly take that as an investment. So if it goes over 8 seasons, you win, you pay for 8, get however many it goes. If it goes 8, you break even, if it goes under, I win, lol.

Instead of Knight Rider, let’s make a new show with a Toyota Prius and grandpa Jones. Now grandpa has true grit and the car gets great gas mileage as they try to save the world from the evils of global warming. The story lines have to be sensible; Like one day they meet up with the truck “Big Foot” and convince it to get a smaller engine and smaller wheels. Because this thing doesn’t look like a normal stock pick-up truck like it should.
Or maybe not make a show like that.
The new Knight Rider ROCKS. I’ll be buying all 8 successful seasons.

Once upon a time there was a TransAm that had a TV show, the Knight Industries Two Thousand, looked like a normal car, behaved like a warrior ! KR WAS a story with a cool car with no exterior and reasonable storylines, this newest attempt at re-incarnation is a total DUD. Even if you disassociate from the original, this show just doesn’t cut it. As a die-hard fan of KR, and an oh-so-hopeful fan of the new KR, I pray for an early demise, it’s an insult to the name Knight Rider.

Lol, Ken J, the car is only one of the problems…
Let’s all take a step back and consider the source material…
Keep in mind back then (80′s) we only had 7 channels, PBS, and no dvds or VHS. We were forced to watch crap shows!!!

I remember watching the original Knight Rider,and thinking, “boy this is dumb”. Cylon looking car, driven by Disco Stu…guest stars included Gary Colman.

Knight Rider has allways been a cheesy 80′s camp show that should have never been rebooted…

(IMO)
This new version is nothing more than a Saturday morning kids show…

Well, I remember watching the original Knight Rider, and I remember it looking like a normal Trans Am with all of its toys and gadgets on the INSIDE out of view from the outside world. This new KITT looks like it was designed by some high school fan of Initial D or the rice burner subculture we have. Seriously, what purpose does all of that cosmetic things they’ve shown from KITT serve?

That’s why I’m trashing the car, because it’s plastered with gimmicks.

Yes, minor script improvements are needed, but there was also a grand trashing of the car which confused me. Knight Rider is not a serious drama and that’s not what I’m looking for. This is totally about a leap of imagination and blatant excessive situations and hardware. Give me more.

Well, I’m glad you liked it, I thought it was pretty horrible, I think I threw up a little bit… My favorite part was when that idiot asian girl was like “awesome” when Mike and that girl that can’t act was dead and they were trying to revive them…

I do agree that it was an improvement over that movie though, but not by much. Mike’s character especially, was a big improvement since he’s trying to be a bit more serious this time around.

From the previous comments I thought this would be bad. What I found was a True KNIGHT RIDER show. The point of the show is to be a bit “out there” and have some quirky humor. I agree the writers need to improve where to place humor and comments, but the show is a great entertaining ride.
The Kitt Car is definately 21st century, and Justin Bruening delivers.
I’ve seen Smith Cho before. She is an impressive talent they should take full advantage of.
I found myself enjoying the ride. This show is a 9.0, Gary Scott Thompson has provided gold. It just needs a bit of polishing.

There’s nothing wrong with KITT being a GT500KR Mustang, the problem comes when they put all of these USELESS things on there that look like toys. I mean, seriously, I’ve seen my share of fake and functional hood scoops, but WTF are those plastic looking silver things sticking out of the hood??

What is up with the solid front wheels???

What possible function could blackening lines on the headlights and taillights serve???

Why the hell does it have the ricer floor lighting???

Why are there HOLES in the front splitter?????

Don’t they know routing the exhausts to the side actually makes it LOSE torque compared to straight backs???

Seriously, they got some 3rd garde school children making decisions on why “upgrades” to put on that.

I think making it a “sleeper” would have been the logical and SMART thing to do. Why announce to everyone in the world: “hey look at me, if you’re looking for the car that just blew up your factory, I am it!!!”

Shouldn’t it look like a stock Mustang GT500 and have all the upgrades INSIDE the car? Not hanging off OUTSIDE of it???

The other preview videos on NBC’s site are viewable though. That nanotech armor in the TV movie had pretty cool effects and it’s *ALMOST* believable (though the way the nanites bridge a large gap to form the rear spoiler is dumb).

But in those other previews, it seems like KITT has become Barricade or something.. except that he’s a triple-changer. KITT transforming into a truck?? What’s this, Transformers-type “mass shifting” or something?

And there’s that ugly and corny plasma globe at the dashboard..

They should have rebooted the series with the original Trans-Am KITT..
