A new promo for Kingsman: The Golden Circle debuts during the Kentucky Derby. In 2015, Matthew Vaughn's adaptation of the comic created by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, Kingsman: The Secret Service, introduced moviegoers to a different kind of comic book movie. With plenty of references to James Bond, Kingsman: The Secret Service was an updated and comedically offbeat take on the spy genre, winning over critics and audiences alike. As such, the film secured a 74 percent on Rotten Tomatoes (and an 84 percent audience score) and earned $414.4 million on an $81 million budget - making the first Kingsman a resounding success.

A few months after Kingsman: The Secret Service hit theaters, 20th Century Fox started development on a sequel, which has since been given the title Kingsman: The Golden Circle. The followup, which features the return of Vaughn in the director's chair as well as on script duties - along with his Kingsman co-scribe Jane Goldman - is set to debut this September. Though the sequel's release date is still months away, Fox has already begun the promotional lead up, most recently with a new TV spot.

20th Century Fox debuted a new Kingsman: The Golden Circle promo [above] during the Kentucky Derby - a seamless tie-in since Eggsy (Taron Egerton) travels to Louisville, Kentucky in the upcoming sequel to seek out the Statesman, the U.S. equivalent of the Kingsman. This new promo depicts how Eggsy and his fellow Kingsman Merlin (Mark Strong) discover the Statesman's Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, which leads them to the U.S. where they encounter the other spy organization.

As portrayed in the new TV spot, the Statesman include a host of new characters in the Kingsman world, including Champagne (Jeff Bridges), Jack Daniels (Pedro Pascal), Ginger (Halle Berry), and Tequila (Channing Tatum). Kingsman: The Golden Circle also sees the return of The Secret Service characters Roxy (Sophie Cookson) and Eggsy’s former mentor Harry Hart (Colin Firth) - who was killed during the events of the first movie. The sequel also features Julianne Moore as Poppy, The Golden Circle’s main antagonist.

While the new Kentucky Derby TV spot reuses a great deal of footage that debuted in the first Kingsman: The Golden Circle trailer, it does feature some new snippets - and many of them focused on the mysterious characters of the Statesman. Plus, the promo is imbued with all the humor and action fans enjoyed about the original, confirming those aspects of Kingsman: The Secret Service will carry over into The Golden Circle.

Of course, whether the Kingsman sequel will be able to live up to the 2015 film remains to be seen. It's unclear how the new cast - which is largely made up of big-name actors - will fit into the comic book-adapted spy franchise. But, with Vaughn back at the helm and all teasers pointing to another fun and compelling adventure with Eggsy, Kingsman: The Golden Circle is shaping up to be another success.
