One of Screen Rant’s most anticipated films of 2010 is the graphic novel-turned-action-film, Kick-Ass! Usually, when a little known comic is made into a feature film there isn’t much hoopla surrounding it: Bulletproof Monk, Constantine, Jonah Hex all come to mind.

So far, the hype behind director Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass seems to be completely justified. Going all the way back to when AICN first saw the film, followed by the first red band trailer and then just a couple of days ago when Screen Rant’s Kofi Outlaw attended a screening and came back with nothing but praise. Oh Matt, you had me at little girl cussing. Of course, being a fan of Nicholas Cage (don’t start with me, I also like films made by The Asylum), I’m happy to see the man doing some actual real movie work. Let’s just say his last few projects have been less than spectacular.

Kick-Ass is directed by Matthew Vaughan (Layer Cake) and Jane Goldman’s (Stardust) script is based off the graphic novel by Mark Millar (Wanted). It stars Nicholas Cage (The Rock) as Damon “Big Daddy” Macready, Chloe Moretz (Diary of a Wimpy Kid) as his daughter Mindy “Hit-Girl” Macready, Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad) as the hero with the flock-of-seagulls haircut Chris “Red Mist” D’Amico and of course, Aaron Johnson (The Illusionist) as the title character Dave “Kick-Ass” Lizewski.

Playing the bad guy role in the film is Mark Strong (RocknRolla) who played a great villainous Lord Blackwood in last Christmas’ Sherlock Holmes and is who is playing yet another villainous role as Sir Godfrey in this summer’s Robin Hood. Oh, and he was recently announced as Sinestro in the upcoming Green Lantern movie – another villain to be.

Enjoy the new Kick-Ass trailer below:

Just in case you aren’t familiar with the story behind Kick-Ass here it is:

Dave Lizewski is an unnoticed high school student and comic book fan with a few friends and who lives alone with his father. His life is not very difficult and his personal trials not that overwhelming. However, one day he makes the simple decision to become a super-hero even though he has no powers or training.

It’s simple enough really and I’ve never read the comic myself but now might be a good time to catch up on it, although I may hold off until after I see the film so as not to ruin anything for me.

What did you think of the 4th trailer for Kick-Ass and are you still excited to see it when it hits theaters?
