We here at Screen Rant get our hands on some goodies from time to time, and today we have some goodies in the form of exclusive early concept art from the upcoming movie adaptation of Mark Millar’s Kick-Ass.
The concept art shows early designs for Hit-Girl (Chloe Moretz), Big Daddy (Nic Cage) and Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), which the filmmakers considered before ultimately going with the finished costume designs we’ve seen in the Kick-Ass trailer.
Still, it never hurts to know what might’ve been, so why not have a look, right?
If you can’t tell by the header image, the artwork below will be featured in the upcoming book Kick-Ass: Creating The Comic, Making The Movie, which will detail how Kick-Ass transitioned from being the comic book brainchild of Mark Millar (Wanted) and John S. Romita, to the big-screen vision of director Matthew Vaughn (and we’ll be giving away in a few weeks).
As promised, here’s a look at the early character concept art from the book:

There are some minor tweaks I’ve been able to pick out, but for the most part this concept art is pretty close to the final design of the characters. That’s cool with me; I’ve been digging everything about Kick-Ass since the first footage for the film was released. Vaughn has done a great job and Chloe Moretz steals the show as Hit-Girl.
Kick-Ass: Creating the Comic, Making the Movie is out Feb 23rd from Titan Books.
Kick-Ass the movie hits theaters on April 16, 2010.
