Many Keeping Up With the Kardashians fans were recently hit by the shocking news that the reality show is coming to an end. Now, many are wondering about the reasons why the Kardashian-Jenner clan decided to let go of this massive opportunity. Read on to find out all the answers!

Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Kim Kardashian West announced on her Instagram account that they are concluding their reality family TV show in 2021. After 14 years of a roller-coaster ride on E!, season 20 is said to be the last one. With a heavy heart, she wrote, "We've made the difficult decision as a family to say goodbye to Keeping Up with the Kardashians." The 36-year-old Khloe also shared her thoughts on IG and said, "I am so grateful and thankful to everyone who has supported us and been there through it all. I'm too emotional to fully express myself at the moment." So, why are they walking away from the show that's dear to them and has been a significant part of their lives?

Well, the Kardashian family has been thinking about "the end of their show" from the last "three or four years." An insider revealed to Page Six in an interview that "It's been a long time, coming." They took this decision after considering a couple of factors, including Kanye West's mental health. Earlier, his wife, Kim, asked the "media and public to have compassion and empathy" in her IG post. So, it would be hypocritical if they included his mental illness story in the show. At the same time, fans might feel cheated if they excluded him throughout the season.

Another reason is that the E!'s parent company, NBCUniversal, is financially struggling amid the coronavirus pandemic. In the past, the Kardashians had proposed to conclude the show, but the network made them stay by offering an even larger amount. Consequently, their contract got renewed through 2020 for $100 million. And now Keeping Up With the Kardashians stars wanted to re-up this number. But due to a strained economy, the network couldn't hold them back. Plus, the show garnered 5.8 million viewers for a season released in 2010. However, the viewership of the latest episode has now decreased to 1.6 million. This would have made the network's decision to let them go a little easier.

It has come as sad news to many Keeping Up With the Kardashians viewers who were excited to watch the younger generation, including Kylie Jenner's daughter, Stormi, Khloe Kardashian's daughter True, and Kim's four kids in the show. Still, it seems like these social media stars are moving on with their lives and are quite happy. They have a huge fan following on their social media accounts, which will help them grab multi-million dollar sponsorships. They would do just fine without the show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians
