[FINAL UPDATE: The picture hiding underneath the message has been revealed! Find it at the end of this post]

[UPDATE 2: It's now down to 1 missing letter and there is a photograph underneath that may be revealed...?]

[UPDATE: Message solved: See below!]

I visit my own site a lot more often than I do WhySoSerious.com, one of the viral sites for The Dark Knight, so I figured I would just keep an eye on what’s going on with that Halloween pumpkin with the candle that’s burning down right here. :-)

Here’s what the message looks like as of 3:20PM EST:

WhySoSerious.com has been updated!

The final message:

THE ONLY SENSIBLE WAY TO LIVE IN THE WORLD IS WITHOUT RULES

On the website, if you then click on that image, you’ll be greeted with yet another viral marketing bit (these guys just don’t stop!) on a website called Rory’s Death Kiss:

  1. I’d keep it posted till November 1st,Vic.:-)

  2. Slow news day, eh?

Hmm, let’s see if it’s a Christian pumpkin.

“A bruised reed He will not break. A dimly burning wick He will not snuff out.”

  3. It seems that the candlle is burning up realy fast.

  4. I dont think that candle going to last til Halloween. Maybe,Friday?

  5. It’s rotting on the left side. Hmmm….

  6. Yeah, it certainly doesn’t seem like it’s going to make it all the way to Halloween.

    Vic

  7. I read somewhere that maybe we’ll be getting a Two Face reveal (hence the rot on the left side).

  8. Anyone notice they threw the Heath Ledger Joker in South Park last night?

    heath

  9. I’ve only ever seen like two episodes of South Park, so no…

    Vic

  10. We would all feel very stupid right now if all we got from this is a crummy ad like,”Be sure to drink your Ovaltine,” or something like that.

  11. Well I might get a good laugh out of it but I don’t think I’d feel stupid. The villain is called “The Joker” after all, LOL. :-)

    Vic

  12. I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be a Two Face reveal; the left side (our right) is rotting, while the right side (our left) isn’t.

  13. SHH! shows a comparison between this image and a cover from Batman: The Long Halloween (excellent comic mini-series/graphic novel):

  14. Yeah, I saw that. Looks like it’s going to make it until Halloween after all. :-)

    Vic

  15. Nice pumpkin!

  16. Waited til midnight and hit refresh…got that puzzle/riddle and wondered what the hell!

Looks like people, by city, have to go to certain places and follow directions; once there, they will see something and take a pic, and I guess upload it to the site.

Bad ass! At least they didn’t let us down with a lame pic or something!

  17. I wonder/bet if this will be one of those things that has a lot of tiny little pictures that when put togethor make an image of something else.

  18. I don’t know what the end result will be but it’s going to be a hell of a treasure hunt!

    Vic

  19. Nice Pumpkin, Vic!

  20. Heath, Adrian, thanks!

    Vic

  21. It looks like theirs a photograph hidden under the message,so maybe we will still get a glimse of Harvey yet.

  22. Yeah, you’re right… I hadn’t noticed that. I think it would be a really bad idea to show Dent as Two-Face though. There really are some things that ought to be saved for the movie. :-)

    Vic

  23. Wow! Way to keep people glued to their computers on Halloween, eh? LOL :-)

    Vic

  24. Well, Rory’s First Kiss was the code name for the film, to keep people from snooping. (Blue Harvest was Jedi’s code name). Funny that they’re using the name for the marketing.

  25. I read a comment, probably on AICN, that echoes how I feel: kinda let down that we waited weeks, thinking it’d be a Two-Face reveal, only to have another pic of the Joker (cool, though). And another game, though that, too, is cool.

    Thoughts?

    heath

  26. Well we are still months away from the release of the film. I think they’re doing a great job of keeping people interested with new tidbits and the Joker is one of the big mysteries of the film.

However I think it was maybe a misstep to follow up a long tease with yet ANOTHER game.

    Vic

  27. But to tease Two-Face with a half-rotted Jack-O-Lantern and not delivering? Ugh.

    heath

  28. Hey Heath, in the comic book that used the image of a half-rotting pumpkin on the cover… was that a Two-Face story?

    Vic

  29. Yes. It’s the cover to issue 13 of the Long Halloween, the final story.
