A new rumor swirling around Justice League claims the film's next trailer will offer the first look at Henry Cavill's Superman in the movie. Following the events of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, the Kryptonian superhero is presumed dead by the citizens of the DC Extended Universe - though everyone in the real-world knows better, with Superman having even appeared in Justice League promo art already. Director Zack Snyder wasn't exactly subtle with his hint of Kal-El's eventual resurrection at the very end of Dawn of Justice, either.

While we don't know yet when Superman will show up in Justice League, his newfound allies Batman (Ben Affleck) and  Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) are busy recruiting Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) in preparation for the looming threat coming to Earth. Thus far, most of the trailers and promotional snippets from Justice League have centered on the other five members of the eponymous superhero squad, with Cavill teasing Superman's return via social media. However, if this rumored trailer breakdown is to be believed, then that's about to change.

The tip comes from Reddit's subcommunity, r/DCEUleaks, where a user claims to have gotten details on the next Justice League trailer (which is expected to debut at San Diego Comic-Con next month). The description is quite detailed and includes a scene-by-scene description of the trailer, starting with DC's title card at the beginning. [UPDATE: The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez is saying that this trailer description is inaccurate, so best to keep that in mind.]

"The preview starts with the same footage of Batman recruiting flash, then logos(including the new DC logo). we cut to a montage of the team. Bruce talking to Diana at some kind of museum. Cyborg looking depressed as he walks through the hall of a high school(apparently we see him use some kind of holographic projection to blend in) with voice over from Victor saying ”I never asked for this. I didn’t want to be some thing.”

We then see aquaman in atlantis(apparently resembles castle ruins), talking with Vulko(william dafoe) about his destiny. We see a motherbox being guarded by atlantian soldiers when out of nowhere there’s an attack. Steppenwolf takes the motherbox, aquaman swims after him, steppenwolf throws his axe at aquaman & in slow motion arthur dodges it.

we cut to Batman, WW, Flash & Cyborg being overwhelmed by parademons in some kind of tunnel, the tunnel floods and Aquaman shows up to save the team. We get the ”dressed like a bat, I dig it” then Aquaman asks Batman for help. We cut to the team entering the batcave as Flash geeks out. voice over from Batman about the parademons(referred to them as creatures) kidnapping scientists. WW asks what’s the plan as Flash asks Alfred for some service, Alfred walks off.

Montage of action(slow mo shot of WW falling while trying to reach her sword as flash tips it with his finger so she can grab it, cyborg punches aquaman as aquaman throws him against the wall as the shot transitions into Aquaman throwing Bruce against the wall, aquaman ww & flash guarding what appears to be the scout ship, Batman gliding into a parademon, Steppenwolf stepping on WW’s chest, Cyborg standing on a football field).

Flash then makes a joke about Cyborg looking like the tin man. After the JL title card we get the money shot. Batman is driving towards some kind of ship when Superman in the black suit, beard & mullet lands right in front of it, red eyes and an evil smirk(fire in the background, raining ash, great visual shot) while Batman has a look of ”oh shit” as the trailer ends."

Justice League cast 2017

There is a lot to digest in the lengthy trailer description, but everything pales in comparison to the last bit teasing the possibility of Superman's grand entrance/return. The scene sounds pretty intense and we can only imagine Batman's face (at least what we see of it under his mask) when he finds his former enemy-turned friend, who's supposedly dead, descending down from the sky sporting a new look.

It is advised, however, to treat these details (as cool as they may sound) as nothing more than just a rumor, until we actually see the trailer itself. Despite it being pretty detailed, speculations are normally very rampant, especially with a property as highly anticipated and big like Justice League. There were reports earlier this week that Warner Bros. showed Justice League footage in their presentation in CineEurope 2017 in Barcelona but no details about what they actually showed were released. It is best we don't get too invested in the ideas in the aforementioned trailer description, given the nature of its source.

Reshoots are currently ongoing with Joss Whedon (who is also directing Batgirl), after he took over the project from Snyder in the wake of the latter suffering a personal tragedy.  Nevertheless, the long wait will soon be over, as the film is due to roll out in just four months. Further, with the annual San Diego Comic-Con right around the corner, we're sure to find out more about Justice League - be it in terms of a new trailer or other forms of promotional materials.
