New fan art for Justice League has emerged online depicting Superman sporting his black suit from the comics. Warner Bros and DC are gearing up for their superhero ensemble project that will bring together some of their best characters in one film. Batman (Ben Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) are coming together for the first time, with Superman (Henry Cavill) eventually joining the lot in the fight against Steppenwolf and his Parademons. But more than assembling the squad, fans are also curious to see how the Last Son of Krypton will make his way into the group considering Justice League is a direct sequel to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justicewhich left Superman in grave condition.

At this point, we do know that the DCEU's Man of Steel is dead following his fatal sacrifice in his effort to contain Doomsday in Dawn of Justice. That said, the promise he is going to be revived in no time has already been planted thanks to the upcoming ensemble project Justice League. The mystery of his return now mainly focuses on two things: How he will be resurrected and which iteration of Clark Kent will be coming back. Regarding the latter, numerous fan theories online suggest that by the time he comes back into the thick of things, gone is the beacon of hope and instead, a grim personality rises from the dead.

In light of these persistent rumors, fan artist Roy Ledger has come up with his own rendering of what Superman could look like should this eventually come to fruition. The creator posted the image on his official Instagram account. It features Cavill floating in the air wearing an all-black suit and his cape, a darker shade of red, flowing behind him. To complete the look, his eyes are also glowing red while his hair is much longer and he has a full bearded face. You can check out the photo below:

The theory that Superman will don his black suit has been doing internet rounds for quite a while now, but fans recently had renewed interest regarding it when a supposed leaked merchandise for Justice League features the Man of Steel wearing his dark suit. On top of the aesthetic look, Superman's black suit could be a pivotal clue as to the narrative that the film could be treading as it also signifies a ruthless and grim superhero - basically the opposite of everything that the Kryptonian symbolizes. If this is the case, then Batman and the rest of his newly founded team could battle one of their own first before Clark eventually joins them.

Promotional materials for Justice League continue to arrive with the film due in theaters in less than three months. But while Superman has been featured in a few pieces of tie-in merchandise, Warner Bros and DC are still keeping his return under wraps and out of trailers. The closest hint of the hero came in a Justice League trailer shown at San Diego Comic-Con, which featured a bit of a tease of his red flowing cape and even with that, we're not entirely sure if it was truly the Last Son of Krypton or not. At this point in the marketing scheme for the film, there is still a chance of a final clip with Superman being released. But if not, fans will have to wait until the movie debuts to finally see if there is any truth to the rumors of Superman donning his black suit.
