A new behind-the-scenes photo teases Justice League's ancient prologue sequence. Anticipation is running high for the upcoming superhero movie, featuring the first live-action team-up of the world's finest heroes - Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Flash (Ezra Miller), and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) - on the big screen. Although there are several threats on the horizon, the newly-formed team will first need to work together in order to defend Earth from Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds) and his army of Parademons.

Aside from introducing audiences to the shared universe's newest three members - Aquaman, Cyborg, and Flash - before they set off on their own adventures, the crux of Justice League's story will revolve around the New Gods coming to Earth to recover their long-lost Mother Boxes. For those that don't know, the movie opens with an ancient prologue sequence that depicts the New Gods' first war with Earth against the combined force of the world's three empires: Humans, Atlanteans, and Amazons. The New Gods lost the war and were forced to withdraw from the planet leaving three Mother Boxes behind, which were then distributed among the three empires. We're now getting a new look at that sequence.

Although Zack Snyder won't be participating in the movie's global press tour, that doesn't mean he won't continue to promote the movie's he's worked so hard to build from afar. He's promised to share behind-the-scenes photos, from his time on set, every day for the next month. Yesterday, he revealed the first photo, showing off Central City, and now he's teasing the movie's ancient prologue sequence on the social media app Vero. Take a look below (via Twitter):

The first things that stand out from the photo are the Atlanteans and Amazons standing beside each other, willing to work alongside one another to protect the planet from extraterrestrial forces. What's interesting, though, is the samurai-looking warrior on the left. While we've known that the humans will participate in the ancient war, the only people we've seen thus far looked like Vikings. Perhaps all of the human empires banded together as well.

Another interesting tidbit is the Amazon warrior at the top-right, wearing motion-capture gear. Considering that she's an archer, it's possible that she could be Artemis. However, the version of Artemis that people are most familiar with already appeared in Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman, played by Ann Wolfe.

The last attention-grabbing detail from the photo is the Atlantean warrior standing next to Snyder. What's important about this character is that he may actually be Atlan, the Dead King, whose statue was teased in a recent promo video. If you look closely, it's possible that the armor he's wearing is the same one that Aquaman wears in the movie. After all, it was previously revealed that Arthur Curry will need to go back to Atlantis in order to retrieve his armor. But, we'll have to wait until Justice League arrives next month to find out for sure.
