Like last year, fans of DC Comics will get two chances in 2017 to see some of their favorite heroes brought to life. June will give us the origin of Princess Diana as a superhero in Wonder Woman before she teams up with the other DCEU heroes in the present day for November's Justice League. Like Marvel's The Avengers, the film will see DC's biggest heroes coming together for the first time on screen to face a threat larger than any individual. With the film just over the horizon, DC and Warner Bros. have begun ramping up the marketing.
Earlier today, we got a teaser for the film announcing a new trailer this Saturday. In it, we get a taste of Aquaman's aquatic powers. Though DC have a huge list of films in some form of development, this year's two offerings along with next year's Aquaman are among the half-dozen that have concrete release dates. As such, it makes sense for the King of the Seas to be put front and center in the marketing. Following the trailer tease, today also brought us a brand-new poster featuring Jason Momoa's Aquaman, showing off his full costume. Now, we've got a new look at him along with (most of) the rest of the League.
DC and WB have launched a new website for the movie called Unite The League. On it, there's a new banner of the team, which you can check out below. You can also create a profile image in the style of the League's members. Right now, only Aquaman is available. There are five other slots that are coming soon, however. Four belong to Wonder Woman, Batman, The Flash, and Cyborg, all featured in the banner. The sixth is likely for Superman, as rumors of his demise have been greatly exaggerated.
The gifts just keep on coming today, as we've also seen the debut of a Justice League teaser poster. It also bares the tagline "Unite the League," a variation on the "Unite the Seven" phrase bandied about a few years ago. Since then, of course, Superman has died, and we never quite learned who the seventh member was. Likely, it was Shazam or Green Lantern, but it looks like we'll still have to wait a bit for either of them to arrive.
That hasn't stopped rumors from spreading, however, that Armie Hammer is a lock to play Hal Jordan when Green Lantern Corps arrives. Even better, he could show up in a tag for Justice League. Hopefully, we'll learn a lot more in the coming days as the trailer continues to be hyped. And come Saturday, we should have a much better idea of the plot for Justice League.
