A new logo for Justice League puts the DC brand at the forefront. Warner Bros. is gearing up for its first culminating film later this year which will bring all of their introduced superheroes together in an effort to protect Earth from the looming threat brought by the imminent arrival of Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons to hunt for the Mother Boxes. Since its announcement, fans have been anticipating for the project, especially when it would not only feature the League officially together but also serve as the introduction to some of the upcoming characters that would soon headline their own standalone films. These include Aquaman with Jason Momoa and The Flash’s Flashpoint with Ezra Miller and maybe eventually, a Cyborg solo outing with Ray Fisher.

While DCEU can be referred to as a brand of its own, Warner Bros. remains to be a huge influence on the films under its banner. Thus far, four movies have already been out since the company has kickstarted their own superhero franchise with 2013’s Man of Steel starring Henry Cavill and directed by Zack Snyder, followed by Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and arguably their most successful venture, Wonder Woman. While the first three projects were mostly divisive in terms critical reception, all of them were smashing hits at the box office, resulting to a global haul of more than $3 billion.

The image has emerged courtesy of Batman News after Warner Bros. released their 2017 Fall Movie Preview to the press and noticed that the Justice League banner now includes the DC icon. Other than that, no other significant changes from the banner which may mean nothing to some but it could also point out that the DCEU will be starting to tie their films together in a more prominent way moving forward. Justice League movie new logo Updated Justice League Movie Logo Highlights DC Comics

Although the DCEU is referred to as a shared cinematic universe, one can argue that the four films under its belt have not been promoted in a way that they are strongly linked with one another. This is despite the fact that most of them refer to events from other movies. But the mere update in the Justice League logo could be an indication that Warner Bros will be more active in pushing the extended universe concept in terms of their DC motion pictures, that way, the brand can be more distinguished as a subordinate but separate entity of the film studios.

That said, it is interesting how Warner Bros. would eventually market the recently rumored new Joker origin film supposedly produced by Martin Scorsese given that it is said to exist in a different reality than the rest of the DCEU. Since the character originated from the DC Comics and already has a counterpart in the main film series with Jared Leto, who will still continue to  will still continue to play the role in other upcoming projects like  the Joker/Harley spin-off from Crazy, Stupid, Love directors, as well as, the fast-tracked Suicide Squad sequel, it would be curious to know how it will be promoted as a separate franchise.

Just DCEU’s slate, however, has Warner Bros. cut its work for them in the next several years. After Justice League this November, a slew of other movies are already on the docket including Aquaman, Shazam and Wonder Woman 2. Meanwhile, other movies are also being actively developed like Batgirl, Justice League Dark, Gotham City Sirens and The Batman among others.
