After the success of Marvel's The Avengers, we've seen DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. actively taking steps towards building a shared movie universe for their lineup of superheroes. While details on the exact nature of this endeavor are still taking shape, we do know that DCE/WB wants (needs) superheroes to replace Harry Potter as their fiscal centerpiece. The defunct Justice League movie has been dusted off, and while Chris Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises might not mark the beginning of the DC Movie Universe (DCMU), Zack Snyder's upcoming Superman reboot Man of Steel very well could.
However, Marvel didn't just jump from the success of Iron Man to the Mega-success of The Avngers: there were missteps and growing pains along the way. While it can be intimidating to have to follow a successful act, we have five suggestions that could help the DCMU give the Marvel Movie Universe a (literal) run for its money.

I would say most of the main stays we have come to enjoy in the comic books:
Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman, Atom, Martian Manhunter, Zan & Jayna
Green Arrow, Black Canary, and Batgirl
2.) What kind of ideas (or grand visions) do you have for a Justice League film? Your favorite solo character film?
I would say you could have ALL of the Justice League come back in time and fight Darkseid in the past.
Only have them have NO costumes and NO memories of who they, trying to re-learn or understand their abilities.
Martian Manhunter brings them all back in time and dies after escaping a major fight. Now they must confront
Darkseid and return to their future. Only use their first names and have them be helped by a past version of
Green Arrow, Black Canary, and Batgirl. before the JLA was formed.

ryan for green lantern? why? this is a real question, i want to know why he would be good for that? he was horrible in the movie. they should re-cast for green lantern
I agree. they recast Hulk 3 times within the same decade….and it turned out dam good!
Ryan Renolds as Green Lantern is exactly the same as Ben Affleck as DareDevil.
The Director or Casting people just tried to get someone who was popular at the time where hopefully girls will be wanting to go with thier BF to watch the movie.
total disaster. when it comes to superheroes it is better to go with people who are either up and coming actors or completely new actors. Otherwise people will have already formed expectations and opinions.
I hated Ryan Renalds because he always plays this “i’m so sexy guy and …look at my abs….every dam movie” can’t take that guy seriously.
Zan and Jayna? WTF? They were only introduced in the comics in the mid-90′s as a joke and have maybe popped up once since, in the background.
Keep it to some basic characters. Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Flash, and Aquaman. As much as I’d really prefer to include him, Martian Manhunter may be too much, but if someone could make it work, go for it. You can throw Green Arrow in there because he does have the name recognition but not as a Leaguer, not yet.

Any movie with multiple lead characters like JL doesn’t necessarily need multiple stars in the lead roles. As we learned from George Lucas in the 70′s and 80′s, it takes roughly 3 years to make a movie right. His problem was that now he’s decided he can keeping making the same movies over and over, but this isn’t about his mistakes.
Current technology, and the amount of talent available will allow that process to be substantially reduced, however, as you stated in your article, there needs to be a small number of overseers. Currently, DC/WB doesn’t have that, however, hiring Geoff Johns as president of DC Entertainment was a good first step.
The next thing to do, would be to put a comic book writer on the screenplay adaptation of JL, and not just anyone, but Grant Morrison. Having sat in on his panel @SDCC when he did the reboot of JL last century, I can tell you that he has a handle on all the major characters involved. As we saw with The Avengers, any more than 7 or 8 heroes will be unwieldy to manage.
Four main heroes launched the MMU with their own movies first. I believe the DCMU can go with three, however, you might have to start over with Batman, as we all know Bale doesn’t want to play the character anymore.
This makes the following schedule look appropriate:
2013: Man of Steel
2014: Wonder Woman, Batman(reboot)
2015: Justice League
Within the first three movies, hints and cameos of the other characters that will appear in Justice League need to occur. Now, while we all know Green Lantern was a misstep, there may not be a need to have another GL movie before JL. I would suggest the WB figure out a way to get out of the Ryan Reynolds contract as well. Unless you can produce 7 million Ryan Reynolds fans that went to see him in the first GL, and for no other reason. Good luck on that one.
After you get these steps in place, then we can start talking about casting, etc. Personally, I believe it all starts with a good script, and hopefully, the bean counters @theWB will allow the creatives the time to develop not just a good script, but a great one.
You may now start ripping these steps apart, but rest assured, my opinions will not change.

Im sorry,but i think your opinion of ryan reynolds portrayal of green lantern is inaccurate. I used to be a big fan of the hal jordan GL character back in the day,and ryan reynolds nailed his personality. As with many movies made based on comics,it wasnt the actor,but the poor interpretation of how the movie should be made that made it not live up to its potential.
I completely disagree. Ryan Reynolds is horrible. His acting has and always will be one dimensional. he is just eye candy for girls and this is why he has gone so far. he just does not have a believable character. you can tell by his expressions and even in his eyes. he is not Green Lantern. you need really good seriously actors to play the part. he never was and never will be.
Mind you….when you look at even the very first Green Lantern comic…the story was pretty dumb “An Unkown enemy manipulating monstrous puppet to fire dearly ray blasts at me”. lol hard to be a serious superhero with dumb villains like that.
Even the early superman comics were so dumb. well post war. Superman’s Girlfriend….same thing. alot of bad DC comics.Almost all Marvel comics were awesome right from Issue one.
DC made some really crappy stories. this is why Marvel got popular so fast. really good writing and actual stories that continued…thanks to Stan Lee.

The begining of the DCMU could be Batman Begins because the ending of the trilogy introduces Blake as being Robin. He can have his own trilogy. The Man of Steel can introduce Wonder Woman. The Flash can introduce Green Arrow (who’s intro can just be CW’s The Arrow). Green Lantern can have a second movie. Aquaman can be introduced at the beging of the Justice League movie where the join together to fight Black Manta and his army trying to takeover the land. After the justice league movie the heroes can guest star on CW’s The Arrow and Aquaman can have his own movie along with Wonder Woman.
The DCMU can be bigger than the MMU by playing the right cards on who should be in the Justice League and who should cast them along with the writers who should include Geoff Johns and Christopher Nolan.
I don’t think Man of Steel will be the launching pad for a DCMU. I think it is also planned as a trilogy.
A DCMU is a hard concept since it combines both dark and comic heroes. Nothing against Aquaman, but sharing a universe with realistic Batman and Superman movies would be ridiculous. I think it’s best to leave him out of a JL movie. And I think it would be also be for the best if Batman was left out as well. His mythos is just too damn epic to be part of a team. I’d like to see JL movie with just Superman, Green Lantern, Flash, Martian Manhunter and Wonder Woman. I think their stories would match-up well with each other.
I think that making another batman (reboot) movie is way too soon and not to mention costly for warner
bros. How many times do we need to be reminded of how Bruce Wayne becomes Batman with the murder of
his parents… For the non comic book followers it will be like nails on a chalk board not to mention
the endless comparison that you will get from the critics with Nolans trilogy.
What needs to happen is a continuaty similar to the Avengers, there are many new fans that are
discovering these classic dc comic heroes therefore need to follow their stories and anticipate what’s
going to happen next.
They should first start with the big three Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman and if it proves to be
successful they should add the other characters to the franchise with another JL movie along with other
branches.
The realistic styles of the dark knite rises and what seems to be a theme that will be recurring in
the man of steel, should be applied to both a Wonder Woman movie and a Justice League movie.
Not to mention the ending of the Dark Knight Rises I believe was done delibratly to keep open other
possibilities but not from Nolans hands.. it’s almost like a challenge.
Inter linking the characters by adding mentions of Batman and Wonder Woman would be ideal in
the man of steel movie due to him working as a newpapers reporter ( I hope that is still the case)
they don’t necessarily have to make cameos just major headlines on newspapers or internet news of these
two characters would be sufficient. They could also do it as additional clips ondvd releases of the man of steel
just to get peoples imagination flowing and excited.
Or in a Wonder Woman movie when she discovers that men are not all evil and has Batman and Superman as
a contradiction to what she has been made to believe.
As for Batman, a Justice League movie won’t be the same without Bruce Wayne or a Batman.. Following
the Dark Knite Rises what they should do is make:
A retired Bruce Wayne slightly older (who is now known by another name (maybe Thomas Pennyworth) since he is
suppose to be dead) is sort out to mentor and lead the JL team especially to John Blake who has a hard time
believing that he can live up to the legendary Batman by wearing the suit since his fighting skills are not up to
scratch as the former Batman. At first he (Bruce) has a hard time in deciding about persuing this crusade since he
is enjoying his life in the south of France with his wife and two young children until its pointed out that
he can lose it all due to a major threat to the world that requires him to guide skills, courage and strength
that these proven heros posses. He is qualified due to his training in the league of shadow to lead an army.
(It will be similar to his character role in Young justice and JL)
The former Bruce Wayne could be played by Eric Bana who looks quite similar to Bale especially with a beard
which will reinforce him as a fatherly/mentor figure to the other younger heroes. He is a terrific actor
and he is a genius imitator it’s what started his career.
They could also have a female character (similar to Ellen Yin in The Batman animated series) linked to John Blake who
is a former colleague of his in the Police who is hinted to be next Robin/nightwing.
(They can’t have only one female hero in Wonder Woman they need have other female characters who help the cause of JL)
I also think that Jacqueline Macinnes Wood would make a great Wonder Woman, she is an athletic, tough,
beautiful talented actress who reasembles the character very much.. She will be appearing in the pilot of arrow and
was in the final destination 5. If anyone has a hard time believing she could do a good job remember that
Christopher Reeve was plucked from a TV soap beefed up and became the most successful Superman so far.
She can do the same, I don’t think she would pass up an opportunity like this.
The JL movie franchise will need a genius director that can incorporate all these movies to make it successful.
It can be done The Avengers was made with possible franchise on the way and so can Warner Bros with Justice League.
Man of Steel could be a launch pad for the DCMU if its done right. Say they reboot Batman or do a second Superman movie and have Supes do something in Gotham ( they fight extends over there or he saves some one idk) and you see Bruce in the Cave checking this out along with other Gothamites. Thats a settle way of linking the world and just establishing that these two characters live in the same world with out having to really reboot anything. Yes, they would need a Wonder Woman movie. Again with having a cameo with Superman. Depending on who is going to be the leagues first foe, they may not have to do a Flash or a Green Lantern movie. If the foe is Lex Luthor- or following DCAMU’s lead- the White Martian attack and Jon Jones ( Martian Manhunter).
Characters that should be in a Justice League movie: Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern ( Pererably John Stewart… If they do Hal, It should not be Ryan Reynolds. He is Deadpool. He chose a side. Can I suggest Chris Pine?) The Flash, Martian Manhunter (if they go the White Martian invasion route) and Batman. To be totally honest, I would just be happy with a Batman-Superman/Trinity Movie than a JL one. I can wait lol
No fricking Bruce Timm. Man has no concept about anything but pimping Batman and making everyone else look like his b****es or imcompetent fools. He is no Joss Whendon, who has a healthy respect for all the heroes.

Well, the big bad would likely be Darkseid, unless you want to go REALLY big and bring something like the Anti-Monitor into it. Though, I think that, if they intend on doing more than one, they should maybe think about villains like Felix Faust, Queen Bee, Starro, Eclipso, Starbreaker, The Manhunters, Maxwell Lord, or someone like that. In my dreams, I’d love to see the Queen of Fables, but that would be more appropriate for a serial, than a movie. Basically, start relatively low, but still impressive, then move up the totem pole.

Flash – Ryan Reynolds (Wally West) or Kellan Lutz or Cam Gigandet (Barry Allen)
Green Lantern – Darren Criss or Daniel Henney (Kyle Rayner), Lamman Rucker (Jon Stewart) Chris Pine (Hal Jordan) Not even touching Guy.
Martian Manhunter – James Marsden, possibly someone else for his Martian form.
Wonder Woman – Gina Carano (she has the musculature to pull off a “real” Amazon), of course, if you want to go the “model” route, there’s always Tonia Sotiropoulou.
Lex Luthor (cameo, maybe?): Billy Zane
I don’t know who else might be in it, depends on the villain chosen.
Darkseid or Anti-Monitor: Frank Welker? Michael Ironside?
Except for a few (Queen Bee, Felix Faust, Maxwell Lord, etc.), they’ll probably be pretty much CGI.

Producer/Director – Bruce Timm (overall), maybe work with Robert G. Tapert for Wonder Woman, since his period Greek stuff is great.
Writer – Well, I know two people who are working on scripts for movies leading up to this, so I’ll say them, because I know they’ll honor the comics, but, hopefully, make things relatively fresh.

With the right screenplays, and the right casting? Easily!

For the first question, see the above answer. DCAU handled the Justice League PERFECTLY, so the movies should be similar. The second question? Batman, OBVIOUSLY.

Batman: No one can do him right unless they’re Kevin Conroy, so hardest question in the universe, that.
Superman: We already have him, this Henry Cavill guy but I’m secretly hoping they’ll pull an Avengers and replace him for Tom Welling, who was born for the role.
Flash: Could be anyone, it’s not that critical but maybe Michael Rosenbaum
GL: Hal Jordan is the only right answer for which GL it is, but I dunno about an actor. Again, no one really seems right for it.
Wonder Woman: Easiest one to answer. Odette Annable, AKA the most beautiful woman in existence. She doesn’t get enough gigs, and being in something DC would really make her more renown. She could also be Carol Ferris but I’d rather see her be WW, because she IS my Wonder Woman.
Hawkgirl: A redhead, obviously.
J’onn: Make him CG, with his DCAU actor voicing him. Easy.

I think they should make an epic justice league trilogy-darker in tone to avengers but similar to The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and similar in pacing and plot turns to the Star Wars original trilogy. The first movie could be told from batman’s eyes and his coping with the changing world around him (introduction to superman/green lantern etc). This would set the stage for his paranoia and distrust with members of the team and could even be a worlds finest type movie (focused on supes, batman and the discovery of Wonder Woman whilst dealing with threats which would culminate in parts 2 and 3).
At the end of the first film there could be a diversion battle fought between say Batman/superman vs sinestro and scarecrow (as a corps member) whilst superman prime destroys coast city to lure Hal Jordan into killing the guardians/corps and becoming parallax (the key threat for the second part being established as the building sinestro corps with parallax coming to destroy the earth-all this could be overseen from the shadows by darkseid like the emperor in Star Wars). The rise of parallax could happen in the first half of part 2, enter Barry Allen as the flash. Now that Wonder Woman, batman, the flash and superman have teamed up, they are pitted against the first attack of the corps and parallax in act 3 of part 2. Parallax can murder superman, destroying all hope (leaving only batman, flash and ww fighting). Martian man hunter could arrive to send the yellow corps packing after the first attack setting the stage for part 3 as an all out action film. Part 3 could see flash entering the speed force in act 1 to go back in time and inform batman and superman of the destruction of coast city, prompting them to spread out with Wonder Woman and green lantern in the past to cover the diversion attack PLUS the coast city superman prime onslaught. Prime could be killed as a joint effort by superman absorbing all the energy of the sun (therefore in the future battle, prime will be dead and Hal Jordan will no longer be turned to parallax and superman will be alive as well as the GL corps and the guardians). Back in the present time flash arrives to see the justice league all alive and fighting the sinestro corps, making them retreat and finally winning. Darkseid reveals himself after the failure of sinestro and justice league foil his backup plans to destroy the planet and save the day somehow

Not bad idea, I always thought the speed force and parallax should be left out but you are spot on about the tone though.
I have an idea, what if WB just have a contest for the best Justice League script and have us vote on them so they’ll have at least ten approaches to look at.

The Amazons. the head (queen) of which was also his on/off consort &possibly TRUE love hippolyta (mother to WW) it is said before the exile either he OR his now twisted disfigured brother the greates Warrior known to earthspent the night with Hippolyta which led to the conception of Diana. when Hippolyta frealised she removed the foetus but kept it in suspended animation..as ALL amazons are designed to be unable to have children.. &due to the hidden identity of the father.

Backstory: all round niceguy but slacker whos yet to live up to his potential &is ALWAYS late his life take a sudden turn when his childhood sweetheart Iris leaves him remarking “by the time he decides to start moving the whole world will have left him behind &shes tired of waiting for him to switch up a grear” deciding to turn his life around he is inspired by his uncle the star athlete turned war hero Jay “Flash” Garretts whose sudden death in afghanistan shakes him out of complacency &he decides to make a difference somehow.. he decides to become a CSI so he can give back &cause the sciences were the only thing he was ever any good at..ffwd few yrs later some things havent changed &hes late.. for his shift in the phorensics lab one night. he then gets hit with an energy contrail (as a result of Kryptonian ship having a random energy dischrge whilst flying over the area..it interacts with all the chemicals in the lab &passes through his body instantly putting him into a coma.. when he wakes months later the alen invasion is over Supes now a hero/celebrity meanwhile he has to have rehab to teach him to walk again due to atrophy etc.. during the process of rehabilitation biologist Dr Christina McGee (the first thing he sees when he awoke) asks his permission to use him as a part of her Star Labs study, amazed at how he awoke from the coma with zero ill effects &the speed at which he recovers plus his now inhuman metabolism thats increasing by the second.. its then that Iris walks back into his life as she heard he was in a coma &is now unintentionally a source of tension between himself &Christina who now knows his incredible secret..

at no point is the term AquaMan to be seriously used, maybe once by GL as a bad naming pun. but his official title would be Orin Prince/Regent of the city/ship of Atlantis son of “King” Psoideon actually a Genesian scientist who visited earth during the Kryptonian exploration era &whilst sharing data with the House Of El scientist present on earth at the time the relatively immortal alien decided to genetically adapt his dna to be conducive to H20 in contrast to the naturally occurring solar ray absorbtion apparent in some Kryptonians thus enableing him to continue his lifeswork studying earths many oceans millenia ago without interfering with human society &further upsetting the balance of civilisation esp after the incident in Greece that almost destroyed his ship/home The Atlantis &the loss of his wife/lab partner. many many yrs later he eventually has a son with an enslaved African Princess he rescues after shes thrown overboard at sea for starting a revolt.. the son is named Orin Kaldur of Atlantis &longs to venture to the surface world against both his mother &fathers wishes (they somehow die as a result of the Zod attacks)
