So far this year we've seen a few films shift their release dates out of the already overcrowded summer of 2015 - Batman vs. Superman for instance -  but the next installment in the Jurassic Park franchise is releasing right in the thick of it on June 12th, 2015.

Starring in Jurassic World is Chris Pratt, alongside Bryce Dallas HowardTy Simpkins and Nick RobinsonJurassic World will pick up 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park and be filmed on the Hawaiian islands of Oahu and Kauai, which served as the primary filming locations for Isla Nublar in the first movie.

Jurassic World will be the first large franchise film for director Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed), but that inexperience does't worry Pratt. Speaking with MTV News, Pratt praised Trevorrow's vision and excitement for the project:

“He’s got a great vision for the movie… It’s awesome that Steven Spielberg is taking a chance on this guy because he’s got a really clear vision.  I sat down with him and it was kind of like with me and ['Guardians of the Galaxy' director] James [Gunn], we just kind of started getting excited about this.”

Chris Pratt Talks Jurassic World Plot Details

Since Jurassic World will be the third sequel in the Jurassic Park franchise, plenty of fans question why another is needed. (Especially as the last two weren't all that well-received.) Pratt says this is something addressed in Jurassic World's script.

More to the point, the script addresses why anyone would try cloning dinosaurs again considering how badly it turned out the first time:

"What I liked about it was it answers the question of ‘Why would you do that?’ Like, how do you suspend disbelief to be like, ‘Oh yes, let’s make this mistake again. We haven’t learned our lesson about dinosaurs, we should definitely live with them and see how that works out!’ after like three tries at it.  They answer the question really well through the script.  Colin did a great job of writing it and justifying it and in his own way having fun with that, so anybody who goes in with that question will be really amused - the way I was - about how they answer that."

Whatever the clever reasoning is behind yet another attempt at bringing dinosaurs back from extinction, things will eventually go awry. And when they do, it will fall to Pratt's "rugged ex-military guy" to pick up the pieces.

MTV News asked Pratt whether his character will be more like Sam Neill's Dr. Grant or Jeff Goldblum's Dr. Malcolm, to which he responded:

"He’s got a little of both.  He’s got a little bit of the Goldblum cynicism but also the Sam Neill excitement at the wonder of the biology of it all, so it’s a combination.”

It's disappointing Pratt wasn't asked if there were any similarities between his character and Laura Dern's Dr. Sattler, but that's probably because no one could ever equal her steely resolve when it comes to facing down dangerous dinos.
