After years in development limbo, a fourth Jurassic Park movie has finally been picking up steam. Now titled Jurassic World, it will be directed by Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) from a script by the director and Derek Connolly, which was revised from a different draft from Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, co-writers of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

The casting rumors surrounding this project have fluctuated in the past few weeks. Idris Elba (Thor: The Dark World) was thought to be circling a role, until that was proven false, Wes Anderson regular Jason Schwarzman (The Grand Budapest Hotel) is supposedly in talks, and until now the only casting we can confirm is that of Ty Simpkins (Tony Stark's kid sidekick in Iron Man 3).

Two names previously thought to be orbiting Jurassic World are Bryce Dallas Howard (Spider-Man 3) and Oldboy star Josh Brolin. In a recent interview with USA Today, Howard was joined by her father, Rush director Ron Howard, and talked about a number of subjects, including the elder Howard's upcoming projects and their partnership with Canon for the still-image-to-short-film competition, Project Imaginat10n. Toward the end of the interview, Bryce Dallas Howard casually confirms her involvement in the third Jurassic Park sequel:

"They're relaunching the Jurassic Park franchise, so I'll be chasing dinosaurs. That's going to happen next year."

Josh Brolin in Gangster Squad

This is straight from the younger Howard's mouth, and is about as concrete a confirmation we can get in lieu of an official press release. As previous reports have pointed out, Howard's involvement leaves one major role remaining, which Josh Brolin was thought to be in early talks to take on. According to Schmoes Know, however, Brolin is no longer involved, with their report stating, "Apparently, it just didn’t pan out."

The Schmoes source is unnamed and the news as yet unconfirmed, but it's likely to be true. Brolin has had a busy year, with Oldboy premiering in a few weeks (as of this writing); Jason Reitman's drama Labor Day following soon after; along with the long-awaited Sin City: A Dame to Kill For in Summer 2014. And this definitely wouldn't be the first time he's wound up backing out of a blockbuster role. Brolin seemed like an oddly perfect fit for this universe, given his charisma and talent, which makes finding an actor with comparable traits a tough job.

Most fans remain on the fence about this fourth Jurassic Park entry, but the casting choices have been strong so far - rumored names as well as confirmed. Director and co-writer Trevorrow has done his best to justify this new partial reboot, but we all know that in the end, the human actors will always be second fiddle to the plot and the film's real stars: the prehistoric monsters running amok.
