It is safe to say that 2016 has been a good year for Netflix. They have continued to bring original content, that more times than not is both great and popular. They brought back new seasons of hit shows like DaredevilHouse of CardsOrange Is the New BlackUnbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Narcos, Bloodline, Black Mirror, and more, but continued to bring new hits as well. Luke CageStranger Things, and the recent Gilmore Girls revival - Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life - are just a few of their latest successful launches, but one of their quieter new shows was The Get Down.

The Get Down followed the story of a group of kids in 1970s New York and was Netflix's attempt to broaden their horizons into musical territory. While The Get Down was not as popular as some of the previously mentioned shows, it was not because of the quality. Justice Smith in particular was a stand out as Ezekiel, and he is building off this success by landing a role in a highly anticipated sequel for one of the biggest hits of 2015.

THR is reporting that Smith has joined the cast of Jurassic World 2, the fifth film in the Jurassic Park franchise. No details about Smith's role have been revealed at this point, but he is one of the first new additions to join the sequel. With no word on Ty Simpkins or Nick Robinson returning, Smith's role could serve as a replacement for a younger person going on whatever adventure Universal is planning.

Jurassic World 2 budget revealed

Smith's casting is the latest piece of the puzzle to fall into place as the pre-production process continues to move forward. He will so far join Toby Jones and Rafe Spall as the only new characters appearing, but with a few months left before production begins, they will certainly be joined by others. This will be his biggest production yet, but given his individual talent and that of those around him, there is hardly a reason to worry that he will not be able to succeed.

While there is not much to take away from Smith's casting right now due to the secrecy surrounding his role and the plot in general, it should be encouraging to see the sequel bring a young, rising talent onboard that further diversifies the movie. As the cast continues to fill out, more plot details should be made available. It was just recently confirmed that BD Wong will be returning as Henry Wu, and with Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard also returning, Smith is a great addition.
