2015 is set to be a year of massive sequels and reboots - even more so than usual for Hollywood. It's a big nostalgia party and every franchise is invited: Star Wars, Mad Max, Terminator and even Jurassic Park, which is getting a fourth installment titled Jurassic World.

Based on what's been revealed about the character and plot details, Jurassic World really will be a return to the tried-and-tested formula of the franchise. There's a "rugged ex-military guy" (Chris Pratt) who repeatedly locks horns with a scientist (Bryce Dallas Howard) over how best to handle the test-tube dinosaurs of Isla Nublar. There are also two kid characters running around, played by Ty Simpkins and Nick Robinson.

Jurassic World is even going to be returning to the primary filming location of the first film, as MidWeek reports that filming is set to begin in April on the Hawaiian islands of Oahu and Kauai, with four weeks spent in the former location and a further two in the latter. After that, the Times-Picayune reports that Jurassic World will be filmed on location in New Orleans for 11 weeks.

Jurassic Park 4 Returning to Original Island

Director Colin Trevorrow (Safety Not Guaranteed) and cinematographer John Schwartzman (The Amazing Spider-Man) are even planning to film in an old-school way - in the sense that they're shunning digital cinematography in favor of shooting on film. Trevorrow has announced on Twitter that he is "honored to be working with [Schwartzman]" and that Jurassic World will be filmed on both 35MM and 65MM stock.

Based on the fact that Jurassic World will be partially shot on 65MM - which can look truly great in an IMAX screening - it seems likely that the movie is going to get an IMAX release. It's just as well; they'll need a big screen in order to fit in all the dinosaurs. In addition to being partially shot on a larger gauge, Jurassic World will also be filmed in 3D (not post-converted), so that the T-Rexes and velociraptors can come roaring out of the screen as well.
