‘Jurassic Park 3D’ Trailer & Poster: Spielberg’s Dino Adventure Returns to Theaters

Published 2 years ago by

We’ve heard that a revamped version of Jurassic Park IV (ie. one without dino-dog-human hybrids) could at last be arriving as soon as 2014. However, in the meantime, director Steven Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park will be returning to theaters next year. It’s the latest in a string of blockbusters from decades past to be re-released for a new generation to experience for the first time on the big screen … in post-converted 3D (and IMAX 3D).

The trailer for Jurassic Park 3D isn’t too concerned with laying out the plot – which (to paraphrase Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) from the film) amounts to ‘Man Creates Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs Eat Man’ – and instead focuses on teasing the most memorable moments from the classic tale of adventure and science-gone-wrong.

Previous 3D re-releases of crowd-pleasers that smashed box office records back in their day have proven quite profitable, as evidenced by the returns for 3D versions of The Lion King, Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Titanic, and Finding Nemo (Tony Scott’s Top Gun will likewise get a 3D re-release next year, for that reason). But, of course, we all need to avoid being so preoccupied with deciding whether or not we could also go see Jurassic Park in 3D; rather, it’s a matter of stopping to think about whether or not we should (sorry, couldn’t resist).

On the one hand, Titanic demonstrated that even films from the 21st century can look quite exquisite in post-converted 3D, so long as a sufficient amount of time and effort is dedicated to the task. Spielberg’s dino tale, much like Cameron’s romantic epic, boasts some majestic visuals (like the grazing Brachiosaurus and rampaging Tyrannosaurus Rex) that could really pop with a proper 3D upgrade. On the other hand, the film was never intended to be viewed that way, so the 3D element might just end up becoming a distraction from the rest of the spectacle – which still holds up quite well today (similar to The Phantom Menace in 3D).

  1. 3D sucks.

    But I WILL see this.

Nothing will stand in my way.

    • yeah 3D is garbage, but this is one of the great movies that stands the test of time and a testament that physical FX is the way to go. I will sit through the 3D just to see it again on the big screen, though I would prefer they just show the original print

  2. Dont look back kids, don’t look back!! Sorry wrong movie – Dantes Peak 3D?? :-)

    • I love that movie :)

  3. yes yes and yes…and will await the new one 2014

    • I’m confused. Was this supposed to be funny?

  4. My favourite movie of all time, and they are screwing 3D on it :(
But I will probably see this, as it is my only chance of seeing JP ever on the big screen.

    • same here

  6. I wonder if a Jaws in 3d would show well And no not Jaws 3 that was in 3-d when it came out. It would be awesome just to see the original on the bigscreen!

    • or Matrix

  7. out of all the remakes today, the only one I really want to see is of these movies. yes the originals are classics dont get me wrong, but after reading the books, it put the movies to shame by leaving out the best parts and leaving characters out or not giving accurate descriptions out of the characters.

If it were to happen, this is who I would like to see in it:
    Jurassic Park:
    Kevin Costner — John Hammond
    Denzel Washington — John Arnold
Robert Downey Jr — Dr. Ian Malcolm
Leonardo Dicaprio — Dr. Alan Grant
Emma Stone — Ellie Sattler (yes she is young but so was the character and not Alan Grants lover)
Hugo Weaving — Dr. Lewis Dodgeson
Liam Neeson — Dr. Gerry Harding
    Daniel Craig — Robert Muldoon
Jack Black — Dennis Nedry (yes he is a comedian, but he did really well in King Kong)
Jet Li — Dr. Henry Wu
Ewan McGregor — Dr. Marty Guitierrez (was in the novel only)

    The Lost World
    Edward Norton — Richard Levine
Willem Dafoe — Jack “Doc” Thorne
    Kevin Spacey — Eddie Carr
Natalie Portman — Dr. Sarah Harding
    Elijah Wood — Howard King
    Cillian Murphy — George Basilton
    Joseph Gordon Levitt — Diego
    Orlando Bloom — Ed James

    • No, just…no.

    • Why would you want to remake these movies? GTFO

  8. I don’t care for 3D, but this is one of those movies that I will make the excpetion. And the new poster is awesome!

  9. Only death itself will prevent me from seeing this movie on the big screen once again!

  10. Why?
There cannot be enough demand for this to even justify the cost of the conversion, let alone the marketing and distribution.
If you just gotta do a 3D dino movie, make JP4 in 3D.
I’d still see the 2D option cuz 3D sucks, but … WHY?

  11. Seriously…WHY?

    • $$$$

  12. It should be good if Spielberg has the final word, sure he will. If done right post 3d conversions work. I love 3d

  13. I’d love seein Jurassic Park in theater again (although I already saw it three times in 1993), but I will not watch it in 3D. Enough is enough! I will not be one of those guys who say “3D sucks” but then support blatant 3D cash grabs like that with my money, perpetuating that practice. If you want it to stop, make it stop. Vote with your wallet!

    • Just look at the comments, this is one of those movies that wowed a generation!

  14. Yep $$$$$$. It worked for Titanic

  15. I say Goonies 3D!!!

  16. How long will this be in theaters?
