Joseph Kosinski oblivion Release Dates: Jurassic Park 3D, Oblivion, Seven Psychopaths & More

As the person in charge of Screen Rant’s 2012 Movie Preview, I can tell you: keeping up with movie release dates is a hard thing to do. Why? Because unless you’re talking big blockbusters like The Avengers or The Dark Knight Rises, studios shuffle movie release dates around constantly, in order to better fit the changing landscape of a cinematic year.

Today we have some release date announcements and shuffles to report, and they include the 3D re-release of Jurassic Park, TRON Legacy director Joseph Kosinski’s original sci-fi project, Oblivion, the Coen Brothers-scripted remake of Gambit, the upcoming thriller The Words and the highly-anticipated new film from In Bruges director Martin McDonagh, Seven Psychopaths.

Below you’ll find the release dates for the aforementioned films:

  • The Words has been set for September 21, 2012.
  • Seven Psychopaths has been set for November 11, 2012.
  • Gambit has been moved from late 2012 to January 11, 2013.
  • Oblivion will now be released on April 26, 2013, instead of in July of that year.
  • Jurassic Park 3D will be released on July 19, 2013.

The Words premiered at Sundance in January and stars Bradley Cooper, Zoe Saldana, Olivia Wilde, Dennis Quaid, J.K. Simmons and Jeremy Irons. Check out a synopsis below:

When an aspiring writer claims another man’s long lost work as his own, the price he must pay is more than he could have ever imagined.

Seven Psychopaths stars Woody Harrelson, Colin Farrell, Christopher Walken, Sam Rockwell, Abbie Cornish, Olga Kurylenko, Gabourey Sidibe and Tom Waits. The crime/caper/comedy revolves around ‘a screenwriter who gets caught up in his pal’s dog-kidnapping plot.‘ Check out some early images from the film.

Gambit is a remake written by Joel and Etan Coen and directed by Michael Hoffman (Soapdish) about ‘An art curator who enlists the services of a Texas steer roper to con a wealthy collector into buying a phony Monet painting.’ It stars Cameron Diaz, Stanely Tucci, Alan Rickman, Cloris Leachman and Colin Firth.

In the Tom Cruise-starring Oblivion:

A court martial sends a veteran soldier to a distant planet, where he is to destroy the remains of an alien race. The arrival of an unexpected traveler causes him to question what he knows about the planet, his mission, and himself.

And in Jurassic Park 3D you’ll be getting the same great adventure to a theme park where real dinosaurs run amok…in 3D.

  1. do you think the 3D rerelease is to build up hipe to JP4? hopefully this means they are finally, slowly moving forward

    • they said there not making a JP4 cus the writer for the books
died along time ago. but i wish they would. it will be a
“were sorry for JP3, plz forgive us.

      • Where did you possibly get that from? Michael Crichton died just a few years ago.

And there will absolutely be another Jurassic Park at some point.

        • yeah you still here joe johnston and steven spielberg talk about it every once in a while. and i like all three. and unlike some people i really liked the second one. but i do agree that the third was weaker but still good.

      • Dude, sorry to inform you but that was like three years ago when they said that,, since then Spielberg and Universal Studios officialy comfirmed they were still gonna go ahead and make JP4 to be released by 2013. This was announced at ComicCon 2011. The script is being written as we speak. They even said JP4 would be the start of a new trilogy of JP movies.

        • for real?! oh,man hope they have the cast from the 1st one. (except the ones who died)
well hope goldbloom is in it. hes awsome!

    • i hope so

  2. I don’t really car if they make a new Jurassic Park. They ruined the 2nd movie and they should have never made the third. What I am excited about is to see the original on the big screen once again.

      • Agreed :)

  3. All 3 are entertaining. I could do with less kids on screen though.

  4. I am more looking forward to OBLIVION, its going to kick ass!! the game was fantastic and so will be the movie, with Cruise in the lead…it has got my attention. After an awesome MI-4, he has shown he still has what it takes to be an action star!

    Time will tell :)

    • My bad… its not based on game, but ‘based on an upcoming graphic novel from Radical Publishing, the story involves a soldier assigned to patrol a desolate planet who meets a mysterious traveler’
