Josh Duhamel had the perfect response to the shocking cancellation of Jupiter's Legacy, which was axed after just one season. The 48-year-old actor plays Sheldon Sampson in the Netflix series, leader of a group of morally upright superheroes called the Union of Justice. His character is also known as The Utopian because of his rigid standards and Superman-like abilities.

Jupiter's Legacy is based on the comic book series by Mark Millar and Frank Quitely. It premiered on Netflix on May 7. Duhamel is joined by a talented cast ensemble, including Ben Daniels, Leslie Bibb, Elena Kampouris, and Matt Lanter. On Wednesday, less than a month since its premiere, it was announced Jupiter's Legacy was cancelled after one season. Instead, Netflix has ordered a spinoff entitled Super Crooks, which is also based on another Millar comic series.

Duhamel took to Instagram to reveal his thoughts on his latest project's sudden cancellation. The actor shared a shirtless selfie, showing off his superhero physique and the long grey hair that he sports in the series. "When you get dumped by Netflix and you have to put yourself back out there," Duhamel wrote in the caption. He also followed his quip with an obvious jab at the streaming giant: "What's up, Hulu?" the Transformers star jested. Check out his post below:

Duhamel's tongue-in-cheek remarks likened the show's cancellation to a bad breakup; when the dumped party shares a revenge photo to prove that everything's more than fine. But if his funny post seemed to make light of the situation, several of his co-stars have clearly expressed their disappointment. Andrew Horton, who played Duhamel's son in the series, posted a behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram to say how devastated he was about Netflix cancelling Jupiter's Legacy. While Millar himself agreed that there's more to be explored with Jupiter's Legacy, the showrunner was also excited to expand his Millarworld with Super Crooks.

Though Netflix doesn't reveal ratings for its offerings, negative reviews and low viewership seem to be the reason why Jupiter's Legacy was discontinued after its big-budgeted premiere. It is interesting to note that the series dropped on the heels of other mega-hit comic book franchises. Disney+ has Marvel shows while HBO Max offers DC titles. Perhaps Millar's live adaptation simply needed more guns to hold its ground against these superhero heavyweights. Maybe, should Millar's spin-off project gets better numbers, Duhamel will be able to don his superhero cloak once more.
