Finding current photos of Matrix filmmakers Andy and Lana Wachowski (pictured above, with Arianna Huffington) is quite a task. An even trickier task is trying to uncover official details about their upcoming projects, such as the sci-fi flick, Jupiter Ascending.

All that is known for certain about Jupiter Ascending is the genre and headliners, Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum. While we can offer some unconfirmed information about the film's plot and characters, it's best that you take all those details with a grain of salt - even though said information does make the project sound like the sort of imaginative (if strange) creation that's right up the Wachowskis' alley.

Vulture says that it has been "assured, repeatedly" by its source that the following summary of the plot and sci-fi mythology in Jupiter Ascending is indeed accurate. As mentioned before, though, this scoop is not official - and thus, should be considered RUMOR for the time being.

Our spy says the film, which has yet to begin shooting and is supposed to be the first entry in a trilogy, centers on an unlikely (and as with 'The Matrix', ultimately reluctant) heroine: A recent Russian immigrant — played by actual Ukrainian immigrant Mila Kunis — who is busily scrubbing toilets for a living. Unbeknownst to her, she actually possesses the same perfect genetic makeup as the Queen of the Universe and is therefore a threat to her otherwise immortal rule... These evolved beings fall into various different groups, all of which share some human DNA but who have become evolved after being bred with animal DNA to heighten their best characteristics — e.g., soldiers getting their fearlessness, strength, and a pack mentality from wolves; workers getting their industriousness and reputation for diligence from bees.

The conflict in Jupiter Ascending supposedly kicks off when said "evolved beings" recruit a bounty hunter (Tatum) to kill Kunis' character. Instead, the lone warrior falls in love with the young woman and thus, incites the rage of his dangerous "employers."

Much like The Matrix, it sounds as though Jupiter Ascending may be influenced by an eclectic assortment of genre elements. Those include: classic princess fairy tale tropes (specifically, as Vulture points out, from Snow White), sci-fi allegories for racism and classism, and manga/anime ideas about literal human/animal hybrids. We could go on and cite numerous specific examples where the Wachowskis could possibly be getting their ideas from, but it'd essentially boil down to this: these siblings are drawing from a wide range of storytelling, in order to create something genuinely new and original.

That's all to say: if this information is indeed accurate - and not just misdirection - then Jupiter Ascending sounds like it has the potential to restore many a fan's faith in the Wachowskis' filmmaking abilities. (Assuming this winter's Cloud Atlas doesn't do that first.)

We will continue to keep you posted on all updates concerning Jupiter Ascending.
